Ok so to get this straight: Jade wanted a child to raise with Dave and Karkat because she felt she had to because everyone else was doing it but couldn't because of various reasons, on her own she decided that the only way to achieve motherhood was through using Rose as a baby conduit, which would be fine if all affected parties were members of discussion but they weren't Jade and Rose corroborated in secret and then when the deed was done they kept it secret from everyone including Kanaya, Dave and Karkat, which is insensitive of Rose but completely selfish from Jade because both her husbands (who she kinda forced into this mess) also wanted to raise a child, speaking of raising children Kanaya had no idea Yiffy even existed which implies Jade doesn't have her around herself much and with all the rebellion stuff and hiding her from everyone, when did Jade have enough time to raise Yiffy? The more you think about it the worse it gets like: Why couldn't they use ectobiology? How did no one think this was a mistake? Fifteen years? Does she see rose has her mum? Does she even know what dudes are? When this get's revealed to everyone will Yiffy be ok with having two dads two mums and one of those mums having a separate wife? Speaking of which do we add Rose to the messy wreak that is Davekatley? Gosh I want Dirk back his story makes sense.

This timeline is controlled by calliope so it makes sense it’s shittily made. While dirk values the plot and relevance, calliope is in favor for the “ and everyone got married and had kids and lived happily ever after” shtick. This leads to this timeline being 10x shittier than dirk could’ve made it. Also the jade situation makes no sense. Ecto biology was a valid option that jade and rose could’ve taken ( assuming jade doesn’t use Dave’s slime), but the writers are stupid and thought “jade MUST have a dog dick and be unable to have children” instead of thinking “hey she could use her and Dave’s slime to make a kid”. Actually, I was able to stomach that part of the epilogues. Dirk being this ginormic villain was awesome. However, I didn't enjoy much else. By itself, meat sucked. But when compared to candy, it was better. I was fine with John dying. That, for every single one of the homestuck characters feels like a fitting end to homestuck.

I have been on the "More people need to die" wagon for a while, I just dont personally like the way it was pulled off here. I don't understand the approval of Dirks sudden powers however. He goes from a normal god tier around the same level as the other characters to some kind of Caliope level cosmic entity with meta powers just as part of his god tier package. Caliborn and John had to get cosmically rare artifacts like the house Juju and (In Caliborns case) push/abuse the game mechanics further than anyone ever had before to gain the kind of power that has suddenly just fallen into Dirks lap withought him doing anything. It seems to be a transparent case of "This character suddenly gets way stronger because we need a villain." The explanation they gave in story of the Ultimate Self and why it does what it does was completely nonsensical, and if its true, then all kinds of God tiers in countless difrent timelines should be getting Meta powers, in which case how was Lord English a unique or even noteworthy threat?

I agree, every single on of the gods should be getting a Meta Power. You see, the entire Alpha Timeline was the Ultimate power of Lord English. It forces the entire plotline of Homestuck into being. Dirk was just the fastest to form an understanding of his ultimate power, and was selfish enogh to use it to control all the other gods. If John had wanted to, he could have rewriten canon any way he wanted to. He just didn't want to. If the super powerful JuJu wasn't there, he would have recieved his ultimate power during the after-game.

If the point of the epilogues and hs2 is to say that canon shouldn't be defined by one person in control of everything but also the audience and the Death of the Author then it has miserably failed to make me agree with that and instead I think Dirk is fucking right: someone has to take control over story and say to the fans "No, fuck you. Hussie isn't writing the Story, he just did the outline of it, but the actual body of it is being written by other authors. Also, Jade never had the power to zap someone from x location to hers, and when she zapped someone to another location or teleported herself it was in the domain of the Green Sun and by the powers it gave her. She is still strong and has abilities and space powers, but she isnt as overpowered or nearly omnipotent as she was before.

Jade asking Rose about that was mentioned in the Epilogues, Jade tells Jake that she was thinking about it during their phone call (same conversation when we learn why Dave can't help her with it). And Jade cheating on Dave... Well, I don't wanna say it "makes sense" because cheating's not okay, but it's believable that someone who's repeatedly made relationship mistakes might pick it over asking her recently-heartbroken (because of her own actions) boyfriend if he can wingman her a date with his sister. Those weren't her only two options but sometimes rationalization be like that. @.@ (I dunno what's up with Rose cheating, even Kanaya seems to be suggesting that she could've like. Talked about it and it probably would've gone over well without any elaborate double-lives being led. But I mean... Rose isn't exactly the best communicator when it comes to emotional stuff so I GUESS I could see where she might find this easier somehow? It's weird reading a timeline where all the Beta kids did more things wrong than Vriska. DXD)

Yiffy's name is the worst combination of the "0 thought before action" of the Harley-berts and the "this would be the most stupid thing ever we shouldn't do it...DO IT." of the Striders and Rose's clever joke names (Mutiny, Salamancer, etc.) Honestly I'm not surprised the most reasonably named anything Rose has had was Jaspers (and even that might have been Earth 1 Roxy's doing) and Jade could have reasonably not thought the name strange at first since she grew up alone watching mostly cartoons and furry art the naming schemes for either can be extremly ridiculous.

I have said this about half a dozen times by now, but this really is well and truly into bad fanfic territory. We have what is supposed to be a heartrending emotional scene, and then its revealed that Jade named her daughter Yiffany Longstocking a moment later. None of any of this had any indication on screen at any point, it was popped on us all at once and then instantly cashed in for cheap drama points making it all absurd anyway. This is the complete polar opposite of the slow build up massive payoff formula that Homestuck was built on. At this rate, whats to prevent them from revealing that John actually became a serial killer during his 10 year depression? Or that the Mayor was actually evil this entire time. I mean, compared to this, why not? To say nothing of how sleazy this entire setup is. They are pimping the homestuck characters out for sexual drama like a $10 whore at this point, shoving mental disorders and sexual orientations fetishized by the worst dregs of the tumblrinas down the throats of the homestuck characters, scripting them to do stupid soap opera shit and then parading the completely predictable results around like a PT Barnum freakshow from the 1800s.

I couldn’t have said it better. I think this is what happens when the OG author has more than 1 other person help them write. This was going to happen no matter what because hussie layed down the framework of what was going to happen in homestuck^2, the problem is that hussie has around 5+ people writing/working on this and somehow most if not all of them don’t know how to write the original characters. You’d think Optimistic Duelist would know how to write these characters at least since she’s the bootleg equivalent of VaatiVidya for homestuck at this point ( or atleast for theorizing/talking about the lore because no one else does) , but not even she can write these characters right or help whoever is writing to keep these characters on point with who they are. If hussie was solo writing this it would’ve ( hopefully) been ATLEAST 2x better than what we have right now. Tl;dr this happened because hussie wasn’t writing it himself but 5 other people who don’t know how to write are instead

Yeah, that's definitely a big part of it, but its more than just that. Hussie has repeatedly bent the knee to the most strident obnoxious members of the tumblr fandom again and again, he has surrounded himself with them and allowed them to dictate the story in small ways that have snowballed over time into the current problems. Their obsession with mental illness gave us John's 10 year long depression and the various other depressed/unbalanced states of the other characters, which are now driving major parts of the plot. Their obsession with trying to force current politics into the story has given us Hitler Jane and a Universe C that just looks like a sloppy version of the modern world as the SJW's see it rather than anything creative or new. This is a lot more speculative than the others, which I am pretty convinced of, but I also suspect that their general lack of restraint and hatred of any kind of convention is what has given us the completely absurd Dirk author plot which is pushing meta involvement way further than it was meant to go and is destroying the basic building blocks of what anything means in this story. Before Hussie very carefully played with these elements, involving them in surprising and creative ways. Now we are just sprinting towards going completely meta as fast as possible and having the characters realize they are all just fictional, which brings us closer and closer to the ultimate cursed ending of all cursed endings: "John woke up and realized it was all just a dream" At this point though it would probably be Dirk that wakes up and realizes it was all just a dream, since John seems to have fallen out of favor with the authors.

Especially if you get to explore the ending where you become an infant Great One, though I don't think they would ever give us that. Here is the thing with John's depression. 1. First off 10 years is an insane amount of time to be depressed. Yes, there are people who go through this, but that is an extreme borderline case. Consistent depression lasting longer than 2 years is classified as a mental disorder, for John to lose ten years is a huge deal and fundamentally changes the nature of his character. They have essentially declared him to have a serious mental condition (the science on depression is fuzzy, but if your down for 10 years something is very VERY wrong) He has now in this shitty fanfic timeline spent most of his life, not counting his extreme early years, as a depressed recluse. Consider that if John was not immortal that would be the best years of his life down the drain. If the new rules of the Ultimate Self are true then John only has a few years more left to live before he goes insane and either ascends to some kind of inhuman state of consciousness, or gets transferred into a robot body. Both cursed fates as far as I'm concerned, and both would mean hes essentially wasted his life. 2. If John is depressed because of the death of his father then we should have gotten a few things. We should have seen him try to bond with the version of his Dad that survived, and either fail or succeed but not be satisfied with that. Second off, we should have seen John have some kind of crisis about Jack Noir. His fathers killer is still alive and we know he harbors a grudge because of his speech on the ship during their trip across the yard. You cant simultaneously have John's angst about his father overpower him, but have him forget about the one who killed his father. This is another big part of why its completely unbelievable to me. This could have even been a fantastic source of conflict between him and Terezi, with Terezi wanting to uphold the law and spare Jack because the courts did not give him the death sentence, vs John who doesn't care about the law as much either wrestling with the temptation to just murder him, or using his influence as a god to try and get Jack the death sentence, or struggle to try and let his hatred go.
