Beautiful bread! You should look into a Bosch mixer! It won't overheat on you and it would easily make a double recipe of the bread you demonstrated without even getting the need for a rest. I gave up on KitchenAid a long time ago because it could not keep up with my weekly bread baking for my family. Thanks for sharing a great family recipe! Happy Easter!

I am from Ukraine and we have a similar recipe with the same name. Almost everything is the same except I boil sugar and water and cool it a little. Then your pour it on top and add some colorful sprinkles. Also this freezes really well so I have baked a lot at times and frozen it and then microwaved it a couple weeks later and it still tastes fresh. Really enjoy this recipe. Happy Easter to you and your family. Best wishes

I'm Serbian, which is really near Slovakia. We make similar breads for Easter, ours are sweater. Our Easter is on Saturday the 11th this year! I think I'm gonna try it out in the next few days, and if it turns out well, bring it to the family lunch! Thanks for sharing!

You are a true professional cook!!!. This recipe requires a professional chef. Here in my country (although we are in Eastern Europe) are not many women who know how to make Easter bread. Congratulations !! And Happy Easter for the whole family !!

Jen, beautiful spring time and family tradition. Easter brings back memories of my mom and Italian aunts baking and all those delicious smells in the house of an Easter bread, frittata,and egg biscuits! Thanks for sharing your traditions,and reminding me how much work and love goes into carrying on these recipes and I need to do this as well!

We have Pascha and Kulich at Easter which is part of our Russian Orthodox Tradition. The bread is similar to yours but we call that Kulich and it is a little more drier. We bake it in tall cans so it comes out with little domes. Pascha is a sweet cream cheese/ custard type dessert that we spread over the bread. It is delish but heart attack material so thankfully only had at Easter. :) Happy Easter!!

Such pretty bread! I'm going to have to give it a try. I can rock a bread machine but don't have great luck on my own, this recipe looks fairly easy, maybe I won't mess this up. I swear bread baking in the house smells better than any candle, febreeze, etc.

My mum always nestles her bowls of dough amongst the towels in the little cupboard that houses our immersion heater :) I have no idea if Americans even have those cupboards but it's the perfect place! I will probably half the recipe and only make 1 loaf (and one smaller one) because I have no idea what we would do with 3 giant loaves.

Thank you so much for sharing! How nice that your mother-in-law passed on a glorious bread recipe to you! :) OK: "Mother-in-laws Aunt's Mother." This woman is Don's GREAT-Grandmother. What we don't know (lol!) is whether this great-grandmother is the grandmother of Don's mother's mother or Don's mother's father. We do know that an Aunt to Don's mother has the same parents as Don's mother's mother = his mother's grandmother. So this woman must be his Great Grandmother. :) I had to figure it out for myself!

Not sure if there are different spices for Panetone, but since I love (that), I am sure this will be just as good. I have the job of making Easter bread each year, so this year, I think we will be having Paska bread. Thanks for sharing, both your method and your recipe. Cheers!

Does anyone know how this compares to Italian panettone bread? My dad loves that and if this is similar I would love to make this for him!
@Malyan4029 жыл бұрын
She said this bread is dense. Panettone is not supposed to be dense, but very soft instead. Panettone also has other types of candied fruits in it and it takes quite a while to make it. Laura Vitale might have a recipe on that. Hope I helped.

I've tried making this twice, and both times my dough has come out closer to pancake batter than bread dough. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong until I ran the math. Using your recipe exactly, you end up with a dough that is between 75% and 85% hydration depending on which number you use for how much a "cup of flour" weighs. That is extremely wet dough. Watching the video more closely, you are packing the flour into your measuring cup when you scoop it out of the bag and leaving it a little heaping when you add it to the bowl. My guess is that the dough in the video is somewhere around 61% or 62% hydration, and you are actually using between 12 and 14 accurately measured cups (130g) of bread flour.
