I have roots in WI and IA, both states are home to me in some ways. I'd say it is not unusual to find the best food at hole in the wall bars, etc but very typical. They are also usually the most down home and local and friendly and have existed for a long time for a reason. Nice to see a more relaxed together type of family vacation. I watch so many channels and one in particular lately it is like every other day they and the kids are in some tourist trap town. Nothing wrong with that, but I don't think I can watch another show with the same types of things in each of every such town, the gift shops with similar offerings, cheese houses/shops, fudge and candy shops, mini golf, arcades, etc. on probably half of the shows lately. Not a criticism, just gets to be the same old. Just nice to see one where the intent was together time rather than tourist stuff to entertain the kids instead.

I live in Pace, Fl outside of Pensacola, and there is a Piggly Wiggly. When they opened Mr. Pig was there and my granddaughter was so excited.

We usually get to spend Januarys in Navarre and Milton FL. That whole area is a special place.

Wow, looked so familiar to our own vacation we took a couple weeks ago, also in Wisconsin! Loved our air bnb as we were also able to take our dog along and it was so nice having the grill and firepit. We were also about 20 minutes from town and had limited wifi (as a working mom, it made me unable to work while on vacation, which turned out to be a huge blessing). We have decided to make it a yearly trip, even though my husband and dad joked that I too ended up working "too hard" as I was cooking all the time. Thanks for sharing your getaway!

I love cooking on vacation when we are renting a house. The kitchen is always so much nicer than my own and I love cooking in it. We always go out a few times but I always bring an insulated bag filled with food from home. It is relaxing to me. I am glad you agree with that. That airbnb was incredible. What a fancy cabin!

I like to assemble the mac and cheese (after the pasta boils) in a casserole dish so the pot from the stove is really easy to wash.

Great cabin! I had to giggle at the not wanting to drive 20 mins often to go to the store or a restaurant. That's my normal drive to the store or restaurants. :) Also with no delivery services.

I really enjoyed this video. My daughter and yours could be sisters. Same age and many things in common. She doesn’t like breakfast either and eats hot pockets regularly. Looks like you all had a great vacation.

Love the vacation video especially since I grew up in Northern Wisconsin. We had a very rustic cabin on Grindstone Lake near Hayward, WI. Always had so much fun at the cabin all summer.
