+Accelluter Well he ain't dead yet. Watch out for Tarantino's latest movie, 'The Hateful Eight' 'cause the great man himself has agreed to compose the soundtrack.........now that's something to celebrate. When Ennio does cast his mortal coil, don't be sad, he had a great life & his music & influence on movie soundtracks will last until we have succeeded in annihilating each other.

Ennio Morricone, who died today in Rome, wrote his own obituary yesterday. Tomorrow it will be published in all main newspapers in Italy. "I, Ennio Morricone, have died. I’m announcing my death to all my friends that have always been close to me and to those who I haven’t seen for a while. I salute them with great affection. Impossible to name all of them. I do want to dedicate a special mention though, to Peppuccio and Roberta, brotherly friends, extremely present in these last days of our life. There is only one reason that pushes me to send my farewell to all of you in this way, and for which I’ve decided to have a private funeral: I do not want to disturb. I say goodbye with great affection to Ines, Laura, Sara, Enzo and Norbert, thanking them for having shared with my family and me a big part of my life. I want to remember with love, my sisters Adriana, Maria and Franca and their loved ones and let them know how much I’ve loved them. An intense, full and profound goodbye goes to my children Marco Alessandra, Andrea and Giovanni, my daughter in law Monica, my grandchildren Francesca, Valentina, Francesco and Luca. I hope they will understand how much I’ve loved them. Last, but not least, Maria to whom I renew the extraordinary love that has kept us together and that I really regret leaving. I send my most painful farewell to her."

All these years I wasn’t sure when would the right time (or the right age) to show this masterpiece to my daughter. Would the new generation hold on through the first 15 minutes of the movie? Would they come to appreciate the impressive camera settings, the complex story, the brilliant characters and the masterful crafted music? I was so uncertain that I could blew this movie for her by revealing it too early or too late… But the day Ennio Morricone died I decided it was time to pass on the torch to honor one of the greatest composer of our time and one of the best movies I have ever seen. We sat together on the couch in the evening and watched this masterpiece. And all the fear I had before if this movie was as timeless as I hoped was total unnecessary - my 13-year-old daughter was impressed and hooked throughout the whole movie. It’s save to say that the next generation will help us preserve it - let’s just all be brave and show it to them…

They were very technical laying down the basics ,but only Ennio was able to catch a state of emotion and put it into music.

Yasunori Mitsuda is who i think of. Look him up. He worked hard. I guess it would be the same with Morricone.

Ennio Morricone, the greatest for me, nobody can put through your body and reach the heart and soul like him, no Williams, no Zimmer and all the others. Specially his scores fits perfectelly to the Movies...the Godfather, Piccolo Cinema Paradiso, the good, the bad and the ugly, the Mission, Once upon a time in america, Once upon a time in the west and surelly i have forgotten some others. Grazie Ennio 🙏

It took an Italian (Sergio Leone) to make a real American western movie. No fluff. Just the brutal reality of western expansion. America has its mythologies, but you have to be on the outside looking in to get a realistic perspective.

Sorry but John Ford made "real westerns". I don't necessarily agree with Ford's ideology, but Leone loved Ford's films and without Ford there would be none of this.
