Hey guys, got the F4U-1a USMC for you today in the Realistic Review :) A bloody Beast of a plane, and i felt while flying it that the 50 cals have definitely been improved as has been reported here and there :) I enjoyed the plane a lot, and hope you will as well watching it. Jengar Do you mean vertical or horizontally? I am usually very considerate on manouvers, eg on the p47s. I just don't see what any of the corsairs has over the p47 which i could fly instead. Yes, it is more menouverable, but imo p47s manouver enough so i don't need more

Markus Wiedner so that's where this is going. A my plane is better than your plane discussion. Actually it is quite easy if you don't like doing something, make sure you are getting paid for it, otherwise stick to the P47. I don't like to compair stuff. I either like it or don't use it.

I've definitely noticed a lot more fires, not with the US 50 cals but with the Japanese 12.7mms on my Ki-43. I had an eight kill match where literally every plane I shot at caught on fire after some time. Definitely needs to be fixed

exactly, if they want to stick with this output for the 50 cals, they need to buff the higher calibers accordingly. That sould put us back to pre 1.59 weapon damage/effect.

Jengar i think it is fair if guns do more damage. The 30mm Minengeschosse on the german planes were onehits on fighters every single time, in war thunder you need up to 10 rounds, because 7 od them spark, 2 are just hits and one incinerates. All guns have to get buffed i think, it would make bnz more viable

Agreed, every gun, not just MG's should be buffed. I hate using my G-6 or K-4 and sparking off the wing of a Spitfire or P-26 (In a custom battle.)

Named Whistling Death for the sound its supercharger made at high speeds. It's raise the hairs on your arms if you heard it - search for a video - there's at least one out there with the sound.

That is the only Corsair I was able to get used to. All the other ones are just so slow to climb. Their energy retention I feel is the best in the game though, just hard to initially get that energy.

i think the incendiary rounds were buffed, boss... however, i think it is for the API rounds where you really see the difference. i am not sure about the early war belts where you don't have the API rounds...

I haven't flown many US aircraft since the kinetic energy rounds have been altered along with the nerf of the previously nearly indestructible slats/spars etc in the wings LOL... i'm looking forward to flying the P-40 right now though as well as the P-38s since the .50 cals will be even _more_ amazing! However, the Breda SAFAT 12.7mm machine guns i notice are _much_ more effective as are the Breda SAFAT 7.7mm mg's! not to mention the German 7.92mm and 13mm machine guns!! the Bf-109 E1 and He-100 _finally_ have nice firepower!!! can't wait to fly a whole host of aircraft that were previously "undergunned" :D

I really like this plane. Nice flying too! The more I fly RB, the more I have come to enjoy the I 16 type 27. In the 2.7 br it is really fun. It's the only plane I consistently get more than one kill per match with. (rb)

It would be nice if you could do a video of settings for control of plane there is no one that does this like the sensitivy settings for example and explain what each one really does and how it effects the plane it would be a lot of help.

never touched that sensitivity stuff mate ;) i use a mouse with 1800 dpi, thats it ;) plus i changed some keybinds to more logical keys that suits the size of my hands :)

yes, except when ppl go for a burning plane thats pummeling to the ground, get the pilotsnipe and steal the kill. In this case its justified to tell that person that he stole that kill i feel ;) or say it was your kill.

I have noticed that the machine guns do much more damage than before, the changelog said that the spars in the wings have been nerfed, instead of the machine guns getting buffed. Besides that, lovelly video as always :)) Plus I really like the looks of the F4Us and they perform amazingly as well :D

I remember a match, pretty long time ago, when i was using the naval variant and by the time i hitted 5k meters my team was already been slaughtered, decapitated and f****d by the throat hole because of course, they didn't bothered to climb at all, gound pounding with p51 is funny i guess (?). Anyways i was left alone against literally the absolute entire enemy team, so i didn't even bothered, just gave the GG in all chat and J out. I mean i had to came out with something around 12 kills (or more), and even if i managed to do that somehow... the team i was in didn't deserved the victory count in that one either, so...

If you really want to see how MGs were buffed, fly the P-47. The amount of wing you rip off now is insane. But the buff applies to any MG in the game. Italian planes are actually very good now.

Jengar it depends actually. Its maximum speed is around 1100 kph i think, but in War Thunder it's probably around 980kph. Plus, it cant land after it has dropped all bombs, because it is too big for the runways. The Russians got the Tu 4, so why should the brits not get a Vulcan? it's only defense is its speed and that's it

I dunno abc, maybe you're right, but i have a bit of a bad feeling seeing another bomber with such a bombload. Gaijin needs to adress the win conditions or the base/airfield health, well you know, i talked about it before.

Jengar and you are right. Maybe I am a bit biased (im not a brit though, nor am i from an english speaking country) but i would love to see it being added. WeBe just made a very, very good looking Vulcan Model (even with a full cockpit). If it's added, then i want it to be added under restrictions. It should cost 1.2 million Silver Lions, only two bombers are allowed per match and the base health should be raised. Plus, you should be hunted if you don't contribute to your team by five MiG 17s (by that i mean exceeding an altitude of 7850m for let's say 7:30min). Or being permanently spotted for the enemy team. I think there are ways to add a Vulcan and I think it has a place in War Thunder

Great review. As I recall, I did well in these things. Clearly it was an excellent and versatile aircraft in reality, but its got to be one of the ugliest airplanes of the era, at least to my eye. Its one of those planes where you either love the aesthetics or you hate it. LOL. Ironically, in this match we didn't really see much BnZ. It was all interception and turn-fighting, but that's great.

The inverted gull wing was required to allow enough clearance for that huge 4 bladed prop and to keep the main landing gear short enough and strong enough to fit inside the wing when retracted. The F4U was very difficult to land on an aircraft carrier deck and it took quite a bit of extra training with the new plane (making the transition from Hellcats to Corsairs) to land it safely on that rolling pitching deck.

Peete, Its not the inverted gull-wings I find ugly, its the fuselage and empanage. I did know the reason for the inverted wings though. However the cockpit was so far back that pilots had extremely poor visibility over the nose, which resulted in many accidents while attempting to land on carriers. In fact, the plane wasn't certified by the Navy for carrier landings until a technique for approaching the carrier deck from an angle was developed. Then, pilots could keep the deck in sight until just seconds before flopping down on the wires. You can actually see this approach technique from old videos. Google it and I'm sure you'll find a few.

early war belts for americans it doesn't make much of a difference... however, late war belts i think tracers have the highest amount of API ammunition even though it is API-T. starts loads of fires

Really is annoying that people in this game call 7000 meters "space". That alt is like 2000 meters below most US fighters optimal performance altitude. So many inept players anymore.

well... in RB, lots of aircraft aren't meant to perform that high as they were not in real life until you get to the later aircraft (1942/43 and beyond really). for example, you have the P-38s after the E model which all can fly high and are _excellent_ flying higher up, then you have the P-51 (Packard engine models, meaning the B, C, D, and H), P-47 (particularly when the D model was released and then later the F and finally the G and N as the M wasn't really used but for a specially tuned testbed), and then you also have certain aircraft like the F4U and F6F later versions which used a better tuned R2800 engine like the P-47. before that, the Allison engine aircraft were _not_ meant to perform any higher than about 5000 meters or so.

so exactly when the F4U was introduced. This isnt a video of a pre 1943 aircraft so there should be no crying of aircraft above 20000 ft. Just my opinion. To each his own I suppose. I just get so tired of hearing playerd complain about high altitude escort fighters (p47 for example) at 25000 ft when even that is still like 5-10k ft below its operating altitude. Heaven forbid a player play to his plane's strengths....and if they do, they get called an astronaut even if they are well below its optimal performance altitude.

scopeseye a very high alt map would be interesting, airspawn at like 6km. Ofc you could only really play germans and usa there, but it would be an interesting experiment. The new arcade map is so cool already

+Jengar Indeed, boss! I couldn't agree with you more, sir! I was just wondering though, boss, would you be for an air spawn in RB on maps so the air combat could occur higher? I would like that, I think.... It would allow for each team to still climb, obviously, but for each aircraft to be able to fight at the altitude it was meant to... I think the reason why we don't see that is because many of the Soviet aircraft simply were _not_ meant to be fighting above a few thousand meters... The I-185 being an exception of course, but that is why it really remained a prototype.... I think it would make things pretty interesting since most American aircraft are meant to be flown high and fast as well as aircraft like the Bf-109, Ta-152, Ta-154, Fw-190D models, many of the Japanese fighters especially the J2Ms and other Army aircraft in particular, then you have the Tempests and of course when you get to Jets, they were _all_ meant to fight high (late 40s and early-mid 50s era jets anyhow like the F-86s and their derivatives, the Hunter, and the MiGs...)... I don't know if you (or anyone else) would agree with me, sir, just thought I would ask. =)
