I really love your content, mate. Incredibly informative and helpful in every single video you publish. Really really appreciated for an overwhelmed new player. I started with the German planes and the bf109 tree, and that was pretty fun, but after learning more about the different planes and trying a bunch of stuff, I started in on USSR planes. I am having SO MUCH FUN with the Chaika and all the I-16 variants. Mostly been hanging out in arcade and trying to work on my aim. Sneaking through the clouds with the small profile and pouncing on people is a blast. Those soviet tier-1 planes offer so much control and maneuverability that you can turnfight with practically anything you come against. Even a slight edge in pilot skill, and you can even hang with the bi-planes in a tight, lower-speed scrum. Along with the four MGs, they've quickly become my favorite planes to fly.

All of my matches so far in the I-16 have been very enjoyable. Only plane I don’t like fighting is the P-36. It can match you in performance so that’s a problem Rockets are fun too :D Managed to get a lot of early russian planes quickly

During the disaster that was called Bomberspam i turned away from AB, except for the premium reviews, which still contains an AB match. If they change things back to a more healthy state i'll fly a bit more ab again ;)

Hey Jengar, just facing some problem with the similar Chinese I-16 type 16, how do you safely takeoff? There are always not enough lift and my plane can't really takeoff safely without bouncing on the runway for a few times, I heard that this happened in some I-16s too, how do you deal with that?

Yeah, I'm "for real". And at 3.3 its still too high. But I base my conclusion on flight performance and my play style which is to preserve my aircraft. It is VERY difficult to keep this plane in the air against aircraft that can out-run you, out-climb you, out-dive you, and more than a few that can out-turn you to boot and still get a decent amount of kills in AB. If you spawn, dive into the furball, get a couple of kills and then die, then any battle rating would do, right? I mean I once took an I-153 (not the one with cannons) into a 4.7 BR match and got three kills before being obliterated. So if thats how you fly then BRs become meaningless. And by your logic, Bf-109 E-3s, P-47Ds, and the A-36 should all be 3.7 instead of 2.7.

Julian Cate errr I hadn't said anything at all, but okay I see where you made the presumption. Let me provide some counter-argument. I agree that FM should dictate the BR of planes, but you have to judge the FM by its playstyle rather that just set qualities i.e. speed, climbrate, dive speed, etc. Not every plane is meant to sideclimb to 4,000m, dive on the enemy spawn, and zoom back up. And this is why I feel the BR of that I-16 is fine at 3.7. It's made as a furball/defensive plane, use your superb maneuverability to track & kill targets, and roll rate to evade enemy. I've had lots of success flying aggressive-defensive against BnZoomers. Also 109E-3 *nearly* outperforms anything at 2.7, it only sits there due to the weak armament (look at E-4, it performs superb at 3.0, though 3.3 would be the cap). P-47D had been clubbing loads at 3.0 with its superb high-alt performance and unmatched dive speed for its BR, yes that plane deserves 3.7. A-36 as a low-altitude high speed hit-n-run plane clubs alot of 2.0-2.3 planes which it could easily outrun, bear in mind it has similar to the cannon P-51 at 3.7 (now 4.0). And nope for most cases I didn't say it should be 3.7, though I once took the premium F2A to 4.0 match and shot down 4 3.3+ planes :P

Fair enough. Good arguments. All your points are well taken. My complaint against this plane at its current and especially past BRs is that you ARE limited in using it successfully. Personally, I use it like I use Hurricanes - as point defense or aerial denial role. Sorta like a goalie standing in front of the goal. Even then it is difficult to stay alive because a competent player in faster or more maneuverable planes will eat your lunch. Again, my complaint is predicated on the idea of staying alive, which is where I find the challenge in WT. I think it requires a lot more skill than spawn, die, spawn, die, spawn, die. And keeping this thing alive til the end in AB at 3.7 or 3.3 is difficult for me. Its probably because you're just a better player than I am.

The skill practiced the most in this plane is Situational awareness, you got to be aware of whats going on at all time, especially in ab. Not the highest, not the fastest, but in its niche its fantastic. this is a plane you fly when you just flew 6 games as a boom and zoomer/energy fighter and you want a bit of fun ;)

Hey Jengar is there any differences between the Type 27 and Type 28? I admit after tons of time flying Yaks and La, this plane feels very relaxing. Good firepower, good maneuverability, good climb rate too. (Although when you face XP-55 better says your prayer cuz that thing is UFO as fuck).

Jengar I would put the damage output of the early war U.S. 50cal belts somewhere between the Italian and Japanese .50s. fires are very rare

jason huiting just use the stealth belts instead, I found that the stealth guns on the P-36G and the P-40 are excellent for wing clipping or pilot snipes, they shred through cockpit armor and fuel tanks
