My husband and I take trips together, but we also have different interests and take trips solo. I'm an only child, so I learned to be self-entertaining at a young age. I love to read and do word puzzles. I save the puzzle books for when I travel. It's glorious to relax in the evening in the room and do puzzles or read -- for hours if I want. At home, I always feel there is something else I /ought/ to be doing.

Wow, you were leaving as I was getting there for Go Wild at the Hilton. I got there Wednesday. There is a FANTASTIC small Mexican food quick service place that is way affordable across the street from all the hotels. It’s soooo good!

Thanks for the review! We are contemplating this place or the Grand Californian. The pool is a big deal for us...I am so glad you showed it! Agado was giving false info about an indoor pool and also extra toilets in rooms. I would've liked to have heard about if you had a quiet experience and how long it might take to walk to DTD or the Disney entrance. I actually prefer no balcony for safety for our child. Though the lit up panel for service and lighting etc looks annoying as our kiddo being special needs might be tempted to play with it. I love that you would consider if something is free for review it might be a skewered experience. 😉 I actually prefer to get sample-size versions of certain things as well (lotions etc) if the cost is around the same per ounce or whatever. I feel often the smaller size is actually higher quality because they want to inspire you to buy the bigger sizes. LOL Idk if that's just my paranoia.

Loved this… Great idea if your going to rest then go to the pool and relax in style…. The hotel looks lovely so far and the food… 5.5 hours and Pre travel time is a lot of traveling……it’s a mistake people often make is to just go headlong into activities,when really a rest would do them the world of good… Looking forward to the next instalment….. Travelling on your own is like everything else,swings and roundabouts……👍🇬🇧

This Westin looks great, I’ll be putting it on my list! I also do solo Disneyland/CaAdventure trips (I live in SoCal & have a pass). People think I’m crazy/ weird to go to Disney & stay in local Disney area hotels. But I really enjoy my trips. I’m an RN (33 years) & I consider my adventures as the best form of self care 💟

I don’t mind traveling by myself either. There are a lot of people too scared to or embarrassed what they look like being alone. I sure don’t care cuz I’ve got tons of experiences they don’t have. I stayed in a hotel near yours twice in the last year and a half and walked across to go thru the parking lot to downtown Disney. Quite easy.

I loved that hotel, my husband and I stayed there for our anniversary back in late October/early November, since we had spent our honeymoon at the hotel that was previously there. The Annabella. I love Puesto, yes it’s costly, but delicious gourmet tacos and the drinks were yummy. We have been o the Puesto here in Santa Clara, CA. Enjoy your trip !

YES I would say pricey but worth it?? Just hate to send people places without that slight disclaimer when it's THAT expensive - I knew what I was getting into but don't want to make others think it's your typical Mexican restaurant you know? And YES I will absolutely be back I just loved it there.

We stayed at the best western across the street a few weeks ago (knowing it was bare bones but LOVE the ‘back door’ location) and boy - has it gone downhill in the last few years since we stayed there last. I nearly checked out after the first night... I was eyeing the Westin every time we walked back to the hotel. 😁 I’m glad we now have a more viable option.

I stayed there back in August, and absolutely loved it! They also has perfect area on the rooftop where they serve breakfast (which was also perfect!) with the nice park view .. the best way to start your day;-)

Another great video Jen 👍. Westin looks great as does the new JW Marriott the other side of Harbor. We often used the DD security entrance when we stayed at the Hilton last trip, the extra 5 min walk was worth it. If we were not feeling up to the longer walk (about 25mins) we just got a rideshare to drop us off at the Disneyland Hotel 😁. Looking forward to your park visits and I can’t count the number of times we visited the CVS 🤣🤣🤣

Do not expect any decent Mexican food in Denmark, what is labeled hot, barely possibly notches the west coast medium. There is a guy from the SW US who has opened a place called Que Pasa, but it still more of a Tex mex. However, his mango margaritas i could forget how many I have had if I am not careful. When eating out there, I make sure I take a train and beg my in-laws to pick us up at the station and drive us home. If not we would take a taxi if too late. Thank you for helping me get through this covid infection. I’m binging on KZbin

Yes! I tend to trust reviews more when people pay for them. It’s not that I don’t believe the reviewers that are given free stuff. It’s that I believe when companies give you something for free in exchange for a review the level of service tends to be different. Oh and I so enjoy your solo travel. Very jealous! I love going places by myself. It’s so relaxing

You inspired our first trip to Disneyland last August… we live on the (Canadian) East Coast and have been to WDW many many times but never made it out to Cali. We stayed at Disneyland Hotel as it was our first trip and we had a great deal too… We are missing California and Disneyland already. I won’t say overall we loved it more because we LOVE Epcot and missed it a lot.. but loved the overall California vibe. Trying to decide if should get out there again this summer… weather is SO MUCH better than Florida… we went to WDW for Christmas and froze.. lol and we are doing a week long cruise and 4 days at WDW next month so maybe California in August again? Just can’t drive like we can to FL. Looking for other places to stay though as on site is really not necessary out there. Never thought I’d say that 😳. Haha.

August can be warm there but not NEARLY as warm as FL! And most of the CA schools go back the middle of August so the second half can be good crowd wise (still busy but not as busy as the middle of summer)

@@JenLefforge We went mid August 2021 and it was hotter at home (sw Ontario Canada ) than in Anaheim as it gets humid where we live and humidity was low in California. It was actually low 80s there when we went and high 90s home. :)

The Westin looks fab, have stayed in several now and they never disappoint. And I am with you on solo travel. I have a kind of annoying flight coming up (two stops with long layovers) but I'll be on my own and able to potter around the amazing Changi airport which I haven't been able to do in YEARS so no complaints here.

Love this! We were fortunate to have visited DLR in January of 2019 abc stayed at the Grand Californian in a 2br on DVC points. I don’t feel like I can top that experience and I am well aware that on a future trip we may need to stay elsewhere. Does the Westin have suites or connecting rooms? This seems like a great first day and your time was well spent from my perspective!

Because we were WDW people before ever venturing West, we are so brainwashed into thinking we need to stay at a Disney hotel. And honestly we love the Grand Californian because I can send the teenagers off into the parks with less worry. But when you said you had a room for $572 and I thought ‘wow that’s a bargain for Grand Californian’ it really made me think about how much we’ve spent on Disneyland trips that was so excessive!!

Hey nice to see this ❤️ will be in Disneyland the first time of my life in August… not a Disney parks newbie though as a Disneyland Paris passport holder and was in WDW twice as a child BUT new to Disneyland Resort. We always stay in Disney hotels 🏨 but Anaheim ones are even more expensive than Orlando and France 🇫🇷 so we will be booking next week…. Is it worth it to stay at a Disney hotel in Anaheim? Some good neighborhood hotels seem to be even closer to the parks entrance than the Disney hotels…

By and large no, especially without a significant discount. The hotel I stayed in was only about 5 minutes further from the gates than the on property hotels and honestly? It was nicer. And if it helps at WDW I always stay on property so I really wouldn’t say that if I didn’t believe it. Hope that helps!
