True story: There used to be a company called The Frisbee Pie Co that would sell pies baked in round tins. Apparently people didn't really care for the pies, but they loved tossing the tins around. So the company stopped baking pies and started selling the tins as toys. And that's the true origin of the frisbee.

True. Clara was suppose to actually die back in 1885 so bringing her to the future would never have altered history in any way. Her staying there, after Doc saved her life and not being together with Doc would have though. When you think about it, Doc HAD to bring Clara to the future. She was supposed to die in 1885. Leaving her there alive would have been a HUGE risk of her altering the future, especially after he told her about time travel, and her seeing the miniature DeLorean time machine.

What I wanted to comment one in part 2 but decided not was this little fun fact. There are 4 DeLorean's in 1955. First one is when Marty goes back to 1955 the first time. Second is when Biff goes back to 1955 at the beginning of part 2. The Third is when Marty goes back the second time to 1955, and the fourth is hidden in the mine since 1885. Yeah I know a bit mind blowing. Again the writing, directing, acting. the foreshadowing, the attention to detail hell everything is outstanding. The level of thought that went into this trilogy is impressive. The mall name change in the first film now at the end of part 3 the ravine name change. Not only that but it explains how Marty left with out a trace, he died in the ravine so everyone in 1885 has an explanation on his sudden disappearance. I just can't praise this trilogy enough and is impressive they filmed part 2 and 3 at the same time. Also Micheal J Fox almost died whilst filming the hanging scene. Nobody noticed he was choking for real and got him down just in time. Sad it's over but hey all good things do. I'm going back and rewatching the trilogy again, because why the hell not.

Mad Dog (or, as I like to call him, "Buffalo Biff") was indeed played by Thomas F. Wilson Jr, the same actor who played all the other Tannens in the movie, Biff, Griff, and even the voice of Biff's grandma, who is heard but not seen in Part 2. According to Wilson, Mad Dog was his favorite character to play in the series, as he enjoyed learning how to ride a horse with that level of skill and how to throw a lasso. Many of the townspeople in this movie, especially the ones in the saloon, were played by character actors who had starred in Western movies and shows a generation before this was filmed. The bartender, for example, was played by an actor who had also played the bartenders in two previous Westerns. One cameo role, however, had to be recast. The character of the mayor of 1885 Hill Valley was created with the idea that he would be played by former US President and actor Ronald Reagan, who had loved the jokes about him in Back to the Future Part 1, and who had referenced the film in one of his State of the Union Addresses. Sadly, by the time filming started on Part 3, Reagan's Alzheimer's disease had reached the point that he wasn't up to doing any more acting, so the part had to be recast.

This has always been my favorite film of the trilogy. I love how it went in a slightly different direction than the previous two films and perfectly wrapped the whole story up. IMHO, this is one of the greatest trilogies ever made because it never gets old and still holds up all of these years later. It’s also one of those franchises where the fans (including myself) do not want to see any sequels or remakes get made because the trilogy is perfect as it is. Fortunately for us fans, both the two Bobs (Zemeckis & Gale) have said in interviews that over their dead bodies will any sequels or remakes will ever get made, since they retain the rights to the trilogy. Both men are now in their 70s so we can relax for another 20-30 years tops.

Now after watching "Back to the Future III", you should consider watching the "Dollar Trilogy" with Clint Eastwood: - Fistfull of Dollars - For a Few Dollars more - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (the epic masterpiece of Italo Western) There were a lot of references to this movies in "Back to the Future II+III". The "Dollar Trilogy" were my first seen Italo Westerns after "Django"... and the reason it is one of my favorite genre for years. I remember, I was about 15 years old, as my German teacher (I live in Germany) told the class about this amoral brutal movies which should be forbidden, naming "Django" as bad example. Sooo I tought, I should watch this movie ...and then I read in the TV guide, that it was going to be shown on TV few weeks later, and that it is about a guy who drags his own coffin ...that was fascinating. I watched it, I loved it ...and then I watched the whole Italo Western serial programm and became fan. Now it is 22 years later, I have a 35mm copy of "Django strikes Again" in my cellar and I develope tech to safe old movies.^^ I think my former German teacher could be amused by that.

And when I met Zach Galligan who was Billy from Gremlins, I met him a couple of weeks ago and he said the same thing, I'll quote what he said 'Pray for their health' he was joking but not joking.

5:32 Editor's Note. 😅 21:16 😆 It was super fun watching your reaction to this trilogy, it reminds you of when you first seen it. ♥ If you want more Back To The Future type fun then you would probably enjoy the animated series 'Rick & Morty', it is sci-fi / comedy / action. Rick is a genius (mad?) scientist / inventor, Morty is his grandson. And both are very Doc and Marty like, an obvious homage to BTTF. They have adventures through time, space and dimensions. It's like BTTF meets Futurama but on steroids and LSD. Often very dark humor.

The use of Great Scott by Doc is funny/great. I remember as a kid hearing Superman use this expression as well (in the Superfriends cartoon). Googling it tells me it was used in the late 1800s and early 1900s... perfect for Doc even when he's in the past!

In 2010 Telltale Games made a 5 episode video game that picks up after the films. The bank is foreclosing Doc's lab since he "disappeared". While at the estate sale the DeLorean reappears with Einstein. Marty has to travel bank to rescue Doc. The game spans several different time periods including when Doc was a teenager up to a dystopian dictatorship future. If you want it you can find it for about $25 on PC, XB1 and PS4.

4:16 "I had been reading my favorite author, Jules Verne." Jules Verne was a famous futurist. This movie refers to him a _lot._ When I saw this movie, it made me briefly curious about him. This lead me to a brief interest in futurism in general which lead me to a brief interest in _other_ futurists like Sir Arthur C. Clarke and Dr. Michio Kaku. Have you ever noticed just _how_ many Earth-reshaping inventions were presaged in futurist writings? Jules Verne wrote about the powered submarine in a book that was published decades before anyone successfully _built_ one. Sir Arthur C. Clarke wrote about communications satellites decades before _they_ were built. And "presaged" is the word I use, because "predicted" is not accurate. The people who first _invented_ these things took inspiration from the writings of futurists. The futurists _shaped_ their development; _inspired_ their development. They actually made it _so._

They wrote part 2 and 3 at the same time, in fact it was originally going to be one movie but they realized they had too much for just one so they made two. They never wanted to make any sequels, they hate sequels, but the studio demanded them, as did fans, and they threatened to find new writers/producers. The Bobs, as they are called, didn't want anyone else messing with their story, so they decided to do the sequels, lol.

I'm so glad they did! Such a fun trilogy 🤠

@@jenmurrayxo There is actually a BTTF video game with an alternate story they originally came up with for the movie that would see Marty go back to the prohibition era to save Doc, there he interacts with young Emmett causing him to fall in love with a woman, Strickland's sister of all people. When they go back to the future they end up in a totalitarian 1985 controlled by Doc and the woman, and then Marty has to go back to the 1930s to prevent that future from happening, it's a lot of fun imo. Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd do some voice work with another guy doing young Doc and another actor doing a great job as young Marty. You can see the game on KZbin if interested.

You have a really solid understanding of narrative and dialogue; I've now seen you predict plot developments and even exact lines of dialogue in several different videos. Do you create original material of your own, and/or have you just read/watched a lot of content? Your instincts are impressive - most impressive!

its an incredible trilogy and so rare that all three are awesome. You probably got told this in the comments but the band playing in 1885 was ZZ top, huge rock band from the 80s.

A short lived animated cartoon was produced after the movie trilogy ended, Back to the Future: The Animated Series, it lasted for 2 seasons comprising a total of 26 episodes, taking off after the events of the 3rd movie, Marty, Doc and family go on a fun time traveling adventures fixing events from history.

I remember watching this in the theatre as a kid, and when the train time machine lifted to fly away to time travel like the DeLorean did, - no joke - the entire legitimate theatre scoffed and laughed that he built a train like that. Was a pretty hilarious reaction to it lol. I still remember that so vividly.
