I love seeing stuff after years and remembering, that's so cool! Just a tip: If you have a Thunderbolt 3 to /1 or 2 adapter, you could've started your old macbook up with cmd+t and then use it basically as an external harddrive. You can also copy things like that. And the thing that is mostly bottlenecking it is the hdd. I changed it with an SSD in my late 2011 and it startet up in 20 seconds, not 3 minutes like before :D

Jenna, be careful with that computer. Trackpad not clicking right, won't run unless plugged in, and it looks like the case has started to separate. I think your battery is expanding. It's a little dangerous, and there could be smoke and fire. Please get it looked at.
