This performance was recorded in 2011 at the 21st Divas Simply Singing Benefit Concert held by Sheryl Lee Ralph. The original Dreamgirls cast (including Loretta Devine) joined to sing a very touching rendition of "We Are A Family" in the beginning. The performance was re-streamed today 2021, as part of the 30th Divas Simply Singing.

She bought the album, and while we listened to the songs, she told me what was happening in the scenes. I felt like I was there! It would be nice to see the original on DVD. I just wonder if the actual play, not just the music, was ever fully recorded (like a movie reel). You can, however, find snippets of the stage play on KZbin if you search for specific parts. I've seen Jennifer Holliday's performance of "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going". Amazing and heartfelt! The scenes that are available are not very clear because of how they were recorded. 😉
