This was such a great conversation. JLo is truly a legend. She doesn't get enough credit for building all this coming from nothing and being a Latin woman in Hollywood. She's launched an incredibly successful career as both an actress and a singer when so few in history have. And she's doing it for over 20 years. She faced so much criticism, ridicule and skepticism, but never backed down, and always worked hard and proved everyone wrong. This is why she's such an icon and an inspiration for so many people, especially here in Latin America.

She did not come from nothing. Her parents worked hard, both of them and could afford a two story house in the bronx, for her and her sisters to grow up in, which is unusual in the bronx. And this is not Latin America, this is the United States, my friend. Remember where you are at. And alot of people face criticism, ridicule an skepticism coming up in show business, especially african-american women along with latino women have a tough time as well trying to make it in show business and prove themselves. So it is not just latinos that have it tough, african-americans have had a tough time, as well for a whole lot longer than latinos have had it. And I would know this, growing up in the deep south, in Louisiana, in Baton Rouge. Trust me, I know it, first hand and saw it, first hand and lived it, first hand. And my life has been a whole lot harder than hers has been and I am no multimullionaire and never will be and have never been married either. She has had some good luck along the way, that alot of us have not had, seems like.

@@bettyekey3781 she had to leave her home cuz their parents didn't support her decision of becoming a dancer so she ended up sleeping at the dance studio so stop saying she had luck cuz she chased hard everything she wanted to be with or without her parents help!
@bettyekey37814 жыл бұрын
@@nickt.8507 she chose to leave her home. that was a choice that she made, my friend after that dream she had of becoming an entertainer, which was pretty far-fetched, for a puerto-rican girl growing up in the bronx, a poor, crime ridden area of New York city.
@bettyekey37814 жыл бұрын
@@nickt.8507I know all about her sleeping at the dance studio, I've heard this story so many times, it makes sick to my stomach. Of course, she chased hard everything she wanted. If that's the case, why arent' all of us multimillionaries then, huh? pray tell? I've worked hard for 30 years and retired from the State of La., then had to go back to work , part-time at a mexican restaurant, in a nearby town , to make ends meet and my yearly salary has never been more than $23,000 a year throughout my entire life and I am older than both her and Arod. Can you explain that? And trust me , I have worked my ass off and am still doing that , even now, by myself, have been single all my life, too..
@bettyekey37814 жыл бұрын
@@nickt.8507 she has that wonderful "Marilyn Monroe syndrome" which has helped her along the way. and has worked hard in the show business and entertainment industry and Arod in the sports industry, where they pay these people millions of dollars to do what they do, as we all know, now don't we? cmon now. Just statin the obvious truth of how it really is and I was a big fan of Marilyn Monroe and her career is eerily similar to Jlo's to where itis not even funny. She struggled to be taken seriously as a singer and dancer and actress, as well. Most of y'all are not old enough to remember her, but I am.

I am so proud of her success with Hustlers, it proved Lopez is still a movie force when everyone had written her off, and in just a year, she has now booked 4 new movies since Hustlers. I hope The Godmother will finally lead to her much deserved Oscar nomination and recognition

People for some reason love to hate on Jennifer I will never understand that. Sometimes I think it’s because she so well rounded, people need to look for her flaws.
@bettyekey37814 жыл бұрын
No, it's not that. I think its because of her looks and her beauty, which tend to get in the way of her actual talent and acting ability, which alot of people don't seem to appreciate that side of her, like they really should do. And those of us, who have been long time fans of hers, like me and some of y'all, know that there is more to her than just her looks and her beauty and her image. These people can 't seem to get past her looks, and her beauty , for some reason, which is a real shame. Plus, she is still humble and very appreciative of the praise and recognition that her peers give her and the awards that she receives from the Hollywood industry that she has been a part of for a long, long time now.

Yes, they are , very underrated movies. Especially El Cantante, which is one of her very best movies ever. And she should have received an Oscar nomination for her role in El Cantante, and the Motion Picture Academy apologized to her, for not nominating her for an Oscar for that role as "Puichi" , Hector Lavoe's wife. She was absolutely awesome in that film. I have watched it several times. Lila and Eve was a great film , as well with Viola Davis, her role was awesome in that film, too, on Lifetime. Two of her best films, actingwise, really were.

I'm glad Elaine said it was their obligation to hire more women and women of color for jobs. Because if Jennifer, a woman of color herself, doesn't do it then who will?? Reese Witherspoon is doing it, but she's one of the few... the power players in Hollywood don't have to do it and they don't most of the time. I'd love to see Jen produce and star with other A-list actors. I'd love for her to take a break from the romantic comedies and really try to expand her wheelhouse so-to-speak. Hustlers was a great movie or at least Jen gave a great performance. I think we need to see more of that and we won't if she keeps doing romantic comedies all the time. She has two coming out and it's like, why???? Wash, rinse, repeat. Same formula. Do something else!!!
