This song and the accompanying video have a very special magic. It not only captures the spirit of the turn of the millennium, but also the euphoria we felt back then. I was 17 in 1999 - the world felt so huge and full of possibilities. While others were probably out partying, I was sitting at my first PC playing Turok. But every time I hear this song, I'm instantly catapulted back. Thank you, J.Lo, for immortalizing these memories for us ❤ 🎆🎉

Living during this time (99-00) was so crazy, because everything felt so new and different with music, movies, electronics and tv (I was 8 and 9) and the Y2K hype around it all was even stronger. As a fellow Millennial I agree. Best time to grow up. We experienced the evolution of technology: internet, TV, mobile phones. So much has changed. It will never be the same. Glad I got to grow up still being a kid playing outside than being fixated on social media and snapchat. In 1999 I was 10 years old going on 11 now 30 lol.
@MsAgnosticaGoesQuantum3 жыл бұрын
I remember this song was playing and the fireworks going off when the clock hit 12:00 a.m. in 2000. I was 16 and lost in the warm embrace of by my biggest crush who was 24. I never got that close to a guy before and it was like heaven. He was older but I was depressed and he offered to talk to me outside. He saw me as just kid, but as we sat on the step and I started crying, but he held me tightly and comforted me with empathy and compassion for nearly 3 minutes as I cried on him. That moment was probably the top ten best moments with a guy in my life. When you realize it's about those moments and the love, excitement, and feeling in them, not attached to the person, future, or past. You can leave behind any other crap those people or experiences gave you. You realize you are being embraced by love, excitement, and bliss itself though that time in that space. The form it took then doesn't matter afterwards. Literally, it's just about the feeling in that moment in time.

Excuse me, Can you explain me whh people realte this song with the year 2000 ?
@AxeKick804 жыл бұрын
@@readmeup4402 3:32 it shows it turning to 2000 after the countdown. The song is strongly correlated to New Year’s Eve partying. This came out in 1999...and everyone was excitedly waiting for 2000, because it represented the future, a new millennium (although it’s argued it technically started in 2001), and the there was the whole Y2K thing...where everyone was nervously wondering if all the electronics/computer stuff would go haywire. So, though it could be used for any new year’s (or I guess any big event someone’s planning for any night)...it came out in 99, and 1999➡️2000 was an exciting big deal that everyone was anticipating.

What’s always struck me about this song is how it’s tinged with sadness. This is partly because of how the music’s written (Bb minor), but also because of the lyrics, which are about hope and happiness, but also escaping from years of loneliness. I sometimes think the man J.Lo’s singing about isn’t even real. Like she’s dreaming of falling in love, but the man (and the night) never comes.
