Living during this time (99-00) was so crazy, because everything felt so new and different with music, movies, electronics and tv (I was 8 and 9) and the Y2K hype around it all was even stronger. Xarfax321 I was 17 at the time and though all of the Y2K bullshit annoyed the hell out of me, I was still out living it up! For me, that night was absolutely magical. I was at a friend's house for a big millennium party that ended with the entire party going outside to watch the big fireworks display. It was just an amazing night, there's no other way to say it. I will forever remember that night actually. This song is so fitting for that time.

This came out in 1999...and everyone was excitedly waiting for 2000, because it represented the future, a new millennium (although it’s argued it technically started in 2001), and the there was the whole Y2K thing...where everyone was nervously wondering if all the electronics/computer stuff would go haywire. So, though it could be used for any new year’s (or I guess any big event someone’s planning for any night)...it came out in 99, and 1999➡️2000 was an exciting big deal that everyone was anticipating.
