Hi! In this case, the only task you should do is a task worth $5. I don't know the type of job you are doing, but if the client is paying you $5 per blog post (for example), then only do 1 blog post and wait until he adds more funds to do more work. I hope that makes sense!

No, I don't think so. Every 10 minutes or so, the app will take a screenshot of your screen, so it will be automatically saved and logged as hours worked. The most you could lose would be up to 10 minutes.

No! They are scammers. Do not pay them anything. Unless they offered you an official job offer on Upwork that you accepted, I am afraid there is no way to force them to pay you. Upwork only offers payment protection if you accepted a job on Upwork and payment was placed in escrow.
