I completed 4 years of education in Karnataka and can relate to the language barrier 100%. But I found this barrier in several places. When in Germany, I used to get confused whenever Deutsche Bahn schedule was modified as all the announcements were in German. And I do realise that it's the native language here so it doesn't demotivate me. You've come this far, then you're already doing a commendable job. The clips were amazing💯

I have been teaching at European schools too but for that I had to learn the language, still I had to always sit by myself during the break & this language nationalism is there all of the European countries Where Europeans only speak their own language, here the teachers tired their best to include in conversation by speaking in english, of course you made efforts too to learn the language too,

I appreciate you so much for honestly speaking out your experience. May be it was a government school or school majorly focused for lower middle class students. So obviously every conversation in and around will be in kannada which the students there understand better. But being a kannadiga here in U.S from past 2 years, I have to say I appreciate your love, angryness, support and passion for kannada. Keep this forever, we kannadigas will cherish this forever.

I understand your point when it comes to talking in Kannada, in govt school most of the teachers would have done their bachelors in Kannada medium until and unless they are teaching science n math, so they are not comfortable speaking in Kannada. My mom was working as a teacher in Mysore Govt school all the teachers would default talk in Kannada and all the register and their notes of lessons where in Kannada coz it’s a Govt school so it’s default Kannada medium school.

The food discrimination is quite common and even if you tell them you are vegetarian they are wary of it. Also in their mind they are convinced by tons of misinformation floating around that so called pasta is unhealthy and suddenly they become very health conscious. What they need to realize is like friendship and food, its a two way street and not one way. They get highly offended if you or I as a foreigner were to refuse their food but for most of us, being aware we will never do so.

Dont be tense I will tell you something except Delhi and mumbai or for matter Kolkata other cities are new cities so the cosmopolitan lacks in them in mumbai u can speak English or hindi u can survive but the first language of mumbai is marathi ,if I was from north india gone to south india almost same thing would have happened too me it so dont hold grudges they would had to me what type of bengaluru guy you are you cannot speak kannada but they won't realise I am from north india and when I would say I am north india they may say no problem but u get the outsider feeling in a country where at every 50 km language, food,clothes ,religion and etc things changes it will be hard for anyone in the country try to make it that is why people in india marry in there community becoz things can get out of control just becoz of little little differences

It is indeed a very bad habit some Indians have of not trying to include the "outsider" by using the common language. It is often not done deliberately with any ill intent but I've seen this behavior in schools, colleges, and even in office workspaces. This type of stuff unfortunately never gets talked about or addressed. I do believe however the newer generation are getting better at this sort of thing.
