To save money I save cardboard from packages and cut out my own cardboard circles with a circle punch. Sometimes I come across colored cardboard. You can also ask your family and friends for their cardboard .

Thank you for your kind words and I know many people don't have beautiful things but there are heaps of ways of getting nice things to craft with. Like garage sales/carbooties, old clothing like petticoats and frilly collars. Second hand shops do lovely net curtains that can be used for flowers, backgrounds etc. I was lucky enough to find that table cloth on ebay for £6 and I'm sure at booties you can pick up things just as nice. Think outside the box! Most of my laces (apart from what I sell)..

Thank you so much for your kind words, I love doing what I do and I'm not saying I don't buy packet things, I make as much of my own materials to craft with whenever I can though there are many times I buy because I don't have this or that to make them with lol lol Its just good to make as much as you can before buying :) xx

I am so glad that you find my tutorials and video's useful. It is how we learn by passing things on and many crafters don't share what they know. Yes they look and learn from others but then never pass it on! I'm a firm believer in sharing what I know so that it isn't lost forever and how we learn is what we share :) xx

Oh yes I agree, we had nothing. My fondest meories are that as a big family, we would make everything ourselves and we were taught from an early age too 'HOW TO'... 6 girls and 2 boys, plus two crafty and very able parents! Passed on from their own parents! We didn't spend a fortune on Christmas decorations like they do today. We made them like stringing coloured paper chains as the garland, made shiny baubles from tinfoil to hang on the tree and used coat hangers covered with tinsel to hang from the ceiling. Made all our own food like tarts and bread sticks etc on special occaisions and made our own sweet treets like toffee when we could afford the sugar. Yes, life was pretty hard but we made it work and had some fun doing it all ourselves! Those were the days lol Thank you so much for dropping by :0) xx www.jenningscreationsboutique.com

I'm a tight wad on our electric bill and we grow a garden every year and I freeze alot of food for the winter. I also buy alot of my clothes from Thrift Stores. I look for bargains! I always hit the clearance and never buy regular price and also if I do buy I'll buy wholesale items or bulk items. That's my way of saving so then if I want something I can afford it.I watch my pennies too. Know when I can spend and know when I can't. In the summer we have more money but when winter comes I stop!

Thanks Fi, for teaching me how to make so many things. I, too, am one without. Watching your vids give me lots of inspiration. I've said it before, and I'll say it again; You're very special to all of us! Please do not take those bad comments to heart! 6000 subbies can't be wrong! Very cute little brolly. I have a template with some lovely butterflies. So I can make them even thought I don't draw well. Thanks again Fi, Hugs, Jess

A simple "Thank You" just doesn't seem to be enough for all that you do to help those less fortunate, to be able to craft as elegently as those who have much more and buy it. It means so much more to my family to know that everything I do is hand made from my supplies and not purchased in a store. Thank you for this tutorial as I'm sure to use the inspiration gained from it to make these to use on a project for my granddaughters. You're the Best Mrs. J.

Yet again so beautiful! I hear you about making with what you have, but I am one of those people that can't afford.I don't have those kinds of laces to make things look so nice. I have made a couple of projects which in itself they looked ok, but I know if I had nicer embellishments they really would have stood out. You are helping in teaching how to make things with what you've got and I do thank you for that.

Hello Fiona, Love your work. Some dings of what you are showing is what I did when I was still making dolls. I got the old camera from my brother in law. He gave it to me a some months ago and I just found out that I can make vidio's with it. I will practice with it and will show how I restore one of them. He lost his hair. The hot glue got old I think. Hugs Hanneke

I've seen butterflys that are completely blinged out with pearls and rhinestones that were marvelous. They were a lot smaller though. My family was a lot like yours, although there wasn't as many of us. In a former comment I told how our mother taught us everything. Back then as you know most mothers stayed at home and kept the house and the meals on the table. We cut our paper dolls out of the Speigles, Montgomery Wards and Sears catalogs. It was a little hard to get the clothes that actually fit the doll, but we made a game out if it. The one who got the best fit was the winner and got first pick of dolls and clothes that day. Our doll houses are cardboard boxes. So we're their beds. Shoe boxes made the best doll beds. My younger grand daughter told me that she wouldn't put handmade ornaments on her Christmas tree until she saw the ones I make. She changed her mind quucklynwhen she saw how professional mine were. I remember out tree with its hand made chain and popcorn garlands. My mom saved walnut shells that stayed in halves when shelled. She glued then together, wrapped them in tin foil and hung them on the tree using thread or pipe cleaners. Our ice cycles were from sardine tins. When you needed the key to pen the can. They were sharp and only mom could put these on and take them off of the tree.

Thank you for considering those of us who need gorgeous embellishments such as yours but struggle to pay for them. I make designer gift bags & often don't get paid for my time, if even for the cost of making it because ppl don't realize how much embellishments cost. I have finally learned to tell folks they can go to the megamart & buy a bag there, but it won't be special like mine & have lost many sales but I can't afford to do things for free. Thanks to you I can maybe make a profit now!

I enjoy watching your tutorials because you reaffirm that you can be an artist without running to the store for premade, prepackaged items.
