I make special pancakes for my 2 year old son!! Or donuts! Or just things with hearts/faces/etc in them! I have honestly, never thought of using colours or "assembling" the pancakes like you do. This is awesome! First question, do you just keep making pancakes til you use all those batters? (I find it takes a while just to use one bottle of batter lol) do you keep it and just use it later? Also where do you buy these dyes? I noticed you red was tasteless, which is what I would need I hate the taste of colours! Do you dye your white mix white? Because it looks way whiter than my pancake mix!! I hope you can answer these questions for me! Thank you!!

Rebecca Ellis Hi Rebecca! Thanks for stopping by my channel! Ok as far as the batter goes, you can use up all of the batter and freeze your pancakes. I often do that for my kids. You can only save pancake batter for art pancakes for up to 2 hours in the refrigerator. After that, the consistency of the batter is ruined for art pancakes. I am currently buying Americolor soft gel food coloring on Amazon in bulk because my Hobby Lobby store doesn't sell it anymore. I often use Wilton's soft gel paste "no taste red" color because Americolor doesn't sell a no-taste red. I buy this at Walmart. I leave my mix alone and don't add any color. I hope to have some exciting news soon about the mix that I use so stay tuned on that! I've never tried all natural food coloring although I've considered trying some that I saw on Amazon. I can't remember which brand it was though. I've noticed that with most of the kids that I make art pancakes for (my own kids or when I make them with other kids at schools, church, etc), they often don't ask for syrup because the pancakes are so colorful. I think that's great as a mother because that's less sugar that they eat! I hope this helps! Blessings, Jenni

A lot of times when people make pancake art they turn the heat to a really low temperature so that the colors remain vibrant on the pancakes and they don't get the usual browning. I hope that helped :)

Jerricca Corbin No but I just use Krusteaz Buttermilk pancake mix and add enough water to make the batter a medium consistency. I don't measure the actual amounts. I just go by how the batter feels. Oh,, and I use a mixer too

Crystal Watts I mostly use pancake mix because it's so fast and I'm experimenting with different ones right now. Some of them work better than others. I do have a pancake recipe that I make when I have more time. It doesn't work as well as the mixes, but it tastes good and still works well (especially for my tutorial on the ice cream cone pancakes). Pancake Recipe: 1 egg 2 cups of milk 2 Tbsp vegetable oil 2 cups + 2tsp flour 3 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 1 Tbsp sugar Directions: mix the dry ingredients in a bowl and the wet ingredients in a separate bowl. Then combine the wet and dry ingredients. Stir until the batter is mostly wet. Then using an electric mixer, mix the pancake batter until most of the lumps are gone. Divide the pancake batter into several cups and mix your colors in the cups before transferring the batter to the squirt bottles. A few pancake tips: Lightly grease the griddle before you turn it on with oil and a wipe it down with a paper towel. If you have too much oil, it will ruin your pretty pancake colors. Also, keep the griddle on low heat. I usually keep it around 200 degrees (but no higher than 250).

+mxlstar 07 Keep the temperature very low (around 200 degrees) and it will keep your white looking good. Also just don't add any food coloring to your batter to get white :)
