Hey, thanks for the review, really helpful! I've been using Powtoon for quite a bit and there are more things to cover in the review if anyone is thinking of buying it: 1. The software can become really slow if you have multiple objects on the scene, it can get frustrating. 2. There is a limitation of 20 seconds per scene, which also can drive you nuts if you have a long text that needs to be narrated. 3. support for Non-English fonts (Hebrew in my case) is very limited, which is a big drawback for me. 4. Their basic plan is VERY basic, both on graphic elements, and for exporting in HD quality (one time only) 5. Character poses are very limited and down to the very basic expressions Other than that, it's a very nice tool to use, nice graphics, can produce a fine result if you put in some effort and go off the beaten templates. Hope you guys found it helpful.

Hey great job. Nice video. Would you please tell me that which plan of powtoon has enabled you to make this kind of video. I have purchased Toonly on your recommendation. I went by your judgement, its purely my choice & has nothing to do with your recommendation, but i would like to share with you that i am not happy with toonly as of now. Its Annual one time plan. But i am facing limitations in adding expression & actions to character, adding different BG in one scene, i dont have the flexibity of modifying scenes and actions of charcacters. For the repetition of font/size/color, try to copy and paste an existing phrase, then edit the phrase to the next wording + position it. Works in a lot of systems.

Hi Jenn, this is a nice tutorial and your presentation was nice (so far to the point). If you can reduce intro part bit more (this mistake is done by many of the youtuber) and jump into the main content straight away, it would be more acceptable as per my understanding (as people do not want listen much in the intro). Question - can you confirm for me whether I can upload a Doodly video (or any of the other whiteboard or animation videos - Powtoon, etc.) into an iMovie video? (the iMovie site states that you can import "some, but not all, MP4 files..." I want to create a video that has a mix of animation or whiteboard clips with real clips (e.g., drone shots, interviews, etc.). I can't find confirmation anywhere whether I can do this or not. Thx!!

Another way they could do a default font is the way it's done in Microsoft Office products. Whichever font you have set as default is listed as the first font. It doesn't matter if the font's name starts with a Z, if it's your default font set in that Office product, then it's listed first. Powtoons could do the same thing. That way users could set their default font. Another option could be as mentioned, with it remembering the last font used. With the same idea as before, just have the last font used at the top of the list so no scrolling.

Your videos are great. Thank you. Powtoon is perfect and I love the feature of being able to upload PowerPoint slides. But Powtoon has one major downfall that makes it unusable for me. The timeline does not include the various audio tracks and show the audio waveform and the layers of tracks. That is a deal breaker for me.

Powtoon is more expensive, but does many different types of videos, including whiteboard. If. You’re looking for variety I would go Powtoon, but if you’re just interested in whiteboard, definitely Doodly.

Nice review. For the font issue you are having I suggest you copy paste the one you just added and then just retype the text. That way you will retain the formatting.

OMG 😳 I am ready to buy a video software today. Disclaimer. Been a n Adobe Creative Cloud Customer for 10 years and I got annoyed with how slow all these Adobe products take to load. Hi Jenn! Very good reviews! :) I've been looking for some demonstration of cartoon-style videos made with Doodle Maker. I haven't found a good one yet. Maybe you have some experience with Doodle Maker? I know their white-board style and so on... I am not really interested in the arm/hand writing on white board, but I'd like to compare their cartoon features with Powtoon and Toonly. I'm precisely looking for some software/app that can help me with my own scripts/storyboard creation. Powtoon Pro costs $49/month, while Doodle Maker costs $49 for one-time payment. At this point, I'd prefer Doodle Maker, but I'm uncertain about the cartoon style. Doodly is okay for $67 one-payment/special offer, but it's a little limited. Toonly, same creator, same price, seems more robust than Doodly, and with better cartoon-style features. But it does not offer several languages translation and a few other cool features that Doodle Maker has. So, it seems Doodle Maker is more robust than Doodly and Toonly, and cheaper, too. But I haven't seen a real cartoon-like video made with it. So, I'd love to know how you compare Toonly to Doodle Maker. I just ran across your video. Thank you for the informative review. I work for a doctoral university with limited funds in our budget for a monthly fee such as Powtoon. Is there any other platform where I can create good presentations with animations, transitions, narrations, and the option to have some interactive sections? Powerpoint seems to be the only free option at this point. I would love to know if you have run across anything else with no cost, or low cost, or a flat fee.

Here's the honest truth about Powtoon. I've used Powtoon for a long time. I used it from the time they switched from Flash to HTML5. In a nutshell, I had to switch to Vyond. Powtoon is a slow buggy mess of a software. They never fix it and their customer support is horrible. All they will tell you to do is to "clear your cache and try again". The worst part is that I had to always to go to customer support and have them export my videos because whenever I did export a video myself, the video would always have tons of rendering errors that messed up the animations I made. So exporting videos take days instead of minutes to do. Also, Powtoon has a private Facebook group and tons of Powtoon's users would post about the bugs and problems with Powtoon and all Powtoon would do is tell people to contact support or they would sometimes delete their users' posts. Horrible company. Vyond is way more expensive but a least it works and I have never needed to contact their support.

Terrible price to value ratio. For $80/month you get 1 download per month, really? So regardless of your productivity, you get 1 chance per month. What happens if you made a stupid typo, wait til next month. I look at pricing because if its outside of the value prop I don't even entertain the purchase.

Actually sponsorships and affiliate links are two different things. In sponsorships, the sponsor pays you to create the video and approves your content. Powtoon has done neither here. Affiliate links are ways to support creators who make content on their own time for viewers like you to watch for free.
