When we write c in single quotes it means that the program will return ch=c in any case. Infact if we enter any other character other than c.

When declaring why we write sum = 0

If you take it 1,2 or anything else it will effect your sum . Adding zero to any number does not effect it. For example if you want to add 2 and 3 and you have taken sum=1, then it will give you sum of 6 instead of 5. Or you can simply initiate it without any value. Hope you will get it.
