Why is Jens just duplicating the lead trumpet player, that guy doesn't need any help.

Joey Tartell is definitely a solid clean lead player. Jens is great too but maybe he just wanted to in order to blow and feel good for what comes later. Or, just to make that line louder. It could have been the arranger too. Take a listen to the Stan Kenton Malagueña recording. I’ve done that before and I think the entire trumpet section is in unison to a high F or G. The challenge isn’t the high notes as much as making sure everyone is in tune up there. Also, take a listen Harry Kim and Dan Fornero on the Phil Collins opening to Hang In Long Enough. Fun stuff.

@@JeffPurtle Quite familiar with the Malaguena recording. Jens is an incredible musician but on this piece I don't know what he is doing? Didn't make a statement when he had ample time to do so, he's the leader!
