Used to use one of these as my router/firewall. I then passed it onto a friend after fitting a 512Gb NVME for Windows and a 2Tb Sata SSD for his data. He loves the little thing and its way faster than his old pc :)

Thanks for the teardown. I just ordered one of these to act as a Roon server. It’s nice to see it has space for two ssd’s since Roon Core won’t let you store music on the OS drive. I have a question however. Do you think it will accept a I7 6700K processor? I have one of those sitting in an old gaming PC that’s collecting dust at the moment. The socket is the same but a 6700k has a TDP of 95W or so. I wonder if it would be feasible to clock it down and make it perform more like a 6700T? Probably not with the limited bios options on this thing...

Thanks. I don't think so either to be fair. The i5 6500T that I ordered should be fast enough for what I need it to do. It's just that I have a 6700K laying around doing nothing at the moment. But I don't think I'm gonna try it. Don't wanna break things. I'll just use it as it is.

@@vower14 It comes with an SSD. Don't know what type. They didn't mention that in the advert. If it has an M.2, I'll get an extra SATA SSD for storage. If it has a SATA in it, I'm gonna use an M.2 I have laying around and get a bigger SATA for storage. It also comes with 8GB of ram what should be enough for my usecase. I'm gonna use it as a Roon server. Basically to stream my music throughout my house and to my phone when I'm away. It doesn't need a superfast CPU but it does need to re-encode the audio on the fly and it does digital signal processing so it wouldn't run on a Celeron or Atom either. But the 6500T should be sufficient.

Thanx for the video. I thought that the i5 - 6500 CPU was not Win 11 compliant only 8000 series and above. Nice little PC though.

That's also what I thought but without any workaround, the installer was not complaining and allowed me to install Windows 11 without any further issues. I believe I noticed that before on another 6th gen CPU as well. In any case, it works as expected.

I just bought the micro tower Prodesk 600 G2, no NVME slot available on the motherboard though. You wouldn't happen to know if the fans are standard PWM? Because I'm thinking about replacing both the cpu cooler and the exhaust fan.

Not 100% sure but I think these are all 4-pin fans, which typically are PWM.

only few 4pin fan are not standard PWM (some apple product). in dell motherboard, some fan needed to spin up to 4000rpm at startup (will be normal after boot), if not, they will appear as cpu fan eror at boot.

Mine does not boot but beeps 3 times. I have m.2 and 16GB of ram installed. No red lights only white solid and 3 audible beeps. Any help?

The ports are soldered to the board so it can't really be a loose or unconnected cable. Maybe check if the ports aren't disabled in the BIOS setup?

Not sure if these exist. You would have trouble to connect the cable and terminate it properly on the case I think. What is a viable option for this is a USB3 Ethernet adapter. My experience with them is pretty good and it would allow you to add multiple interfaces if desired.

Not everything is about storage :) It can be used just like any other desktop (office work, browsing, watching video's,...) or as a small server running containers/VMs. For gaming or mass storage it obviously isn't well-suited.

Its not officially supported but you can use one of the workaround (did videos on that as well) to still get Windows 11. To my experience it works just fine.

Both GTA SA and PES 2013 should run fine with this CPU and the integrated graphics as far as I can see. You might have issues getting them to work with newer Windows versions though. Video editing will not be super-fast but with a bit more RAM and the fast NVMe drive, it should be doable for casual-use. The rest should all be fine as well.

The chipset might support it but the BIOS does not. As far as I know and read, this PC unfortunately does not work with 7th gen Intel Core CPUs

It's an unmodified installer and it did not complain at all about the CPU. Not the first time I see this on a 6th gen Intel Core CPU. Even if you would be running into the hardware check, it's pretty easy to work around this. (Did some videos on that earlier).

As far as I know only 6th generation Intel Core CPUs are supported. the i7 7700T is a 7th generation CPU so most probably it will not work.

Sure, you can upgrade the M.2 wifi adapter to a Wifi 6 model without issues as far as I know.
