I feel that for tv viewers it was all framed and shot as eye popping *background* for the main storyline in the episode. There was some distance there. In contrast, the experience for the crew, cast, and anyone else on set to help run it would have has the full on immersion right there - and they could be much more traumatized for it.

Yea true. The way they were hyping up the weirdness and grossness of the episode did not live up to the actual episode. Still, the best episode imo, but not as gross or weird as everyone thought. It was actually the best one in terms of creating character for Homelander, MM, and Soldier Boy.

Yeah. They usually use porn stars and strippers for sex scenes in movies and shows. Then theres the cgi team that wouldve had to spend hours on love sausage frozen fallace etc. I imagine it wouldve been more traumatising on the special effects team rather than the crew and actors

I don’t see Dean, I just see this sexist manly man who black noir is either afraid of or still loyal to. I have no idea how it’s going to go. But black noir is so much more entertaining in the show than the comic, so he could be going to SB as a friendly, or to kill, or running away from. But putting the beat down on HL was sooooo good. Hype in general will always lead to disappointment and is stupid. (A lesson learned from videogames, specifically watching people hype up cyberpunk and then get so angry about delays and finally getting a dissapointing buggy mess) Since i personally didn't follow any news about the show and just went in blind, i thought it was fine for the standards of the show. Yes! I don't know how or why, but he looked so different in Soldier Boy. I knew it was him, because I crossed throughout some posts saying Jensen would be in the Boys, but it was until the episode when he was with Butcher in the hotel with the big blue sport shirt that we fully accepted it was him. And we watched all Supernatural seasons just a few months ago. He was pretty fresh in our memories and still he looks like another person (it also helps that his voice actor is different, though).
