Your review was entertaining and fairly informative. I bought the Jensen SCR-68C three weeks ago at Target for $15. Neither Sony ("Walkman") or other big-name companies make cassette players any more, and there's really no high-quality brand-new players on the market. Players like this don't have powerful motors, so at times you'll hear excessive "wow" and "flutter". Older tape that's been sitting unplayed for years? Be sure to fast-forward and rewind the entire cassette to loosen the tape and internal mechanism. As for buying used, most used players will have age-related and wear-and-tear related problems like being off-speed, out of alignment, or sound shorting out during playback. If you don't want to spend time repairing an "oldie but goodie", this Jensen is brand new, inexpensive and works adequately. IF you buy one, though, be sure to test your Jensen player ASAP. Stores have very short return policies on electronics. The product warranty from Spectra (Jensen) is 30 days for parts & labor. After 30 days, Spectra warranties parts only for 60 days but you must pay for shipping.

@@peacearchwa5103 I’m considering not purchasing a Walkman because all of them are used and it’d be challenging to find a really high quality one that doesn’t need repair. I am only interested in listening to some music and talks as a small hobby. I think I will get the Jensen as of now, and if it’s not enough I’ll get a old timer Walkman

I felt the same way. He could have used very short ten-second clips to avoid the copyright police, and particularly if he had a couple of tapes of really out-of-date music like Lawrence Welk polka music, just to demonstrate the machine.

I got one for Xmas this year... COMPLETE GARBAGE. Even at full battery or plugged in through 3v A/C this piece of crap did not play at speed... the sound quality was shyte, and I couldn't even get a decent radio signal. This is NOT a "cassette player" because it was not able to play cassettes.... In other words, its garbage like this and the people who foist on us that is really really bad for the world. Cheap plastic crap that doesn't even work. THANKS to EVERYONE at Jensen. Bites a little harder that the box says that Jensen is a "Green" company. Bull. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE PRODUCT. I'm getting my money back.

@thesherlockhound5 жыл бұрын
Players chewing up tapes is incredibly rare. If it even happens. I've had tapes accidentally spill out of the cartridge and into the machine, but that's usually an issue with the tape. Not the machine. And whenever that happened it never got eaten or chewed.

The sound quality is a little funky at times though, and I think it would eat cassettes up after a while. It did only cost $15. It's not like it's a $200 dollar Sony Walkman or anything, but it gets the job done, and so far none of my cassettes have been eaten by it so I would say that it's a pretty good choice!
