Beautiful!! I have recently learned that I am Mi'kmaq....people always asked what I was because of my skin color and just the way I look!?...but I was told I was "white" when I asked my parents...so horrible, it's a sin, but my mom was told she was white.... And now knowing "who" I am, explains a lot to me why I am the way I am....I am Mi'kmaq! Well this song is beautiful!!!

Hello, my mother is a LeBlanc Cajun and i have confirmed that i have Mi'kmaq several times over in many Cajun lines, also Mexican native tribes as well. I don't exactly look Native, but 2 of my 4 cousins from the same side, do, despite having fully european looking other parents. People assumed i was Spanish which i actually am too through the same lines, but the darkness when i tan is unique

My mother was adopted into her family and when I was 10 found out she had 16 brothers and sisters..10 years later after speaking to some biological Aunts and Uncles found out her Grandmother was pure Mi' kmaq. My father side (his great grandmother) is also Mi' kmaq from the same reserve in Nova Scotia. I've been learning the culture and the language. The language is dying. Every generation less and less people are speaking it. I've been studying off KZbin. It's teaching me a lot. I am even taking notes and I'm creating a word book and teaching my children.

This makes so much sense. Only 2 days ago, it was confirmed to me that i have more Mi'kmaq in my geneology than i ever had realized before, and i have always loved nature more than the average person and wanted to honor it. I also always have had a soft spot for Native Tribes and rights

One Paternal Great Grandmother was Mi'kmaq from NS. I met her when she was 96 years old. I was too young to really appreciate what that part of my heritage really meant at the time especially growing up labeled as a first generation Canadian"immigrant" from Bermuda - when some of my lineage is indigenous Canadian.- lol funny. This music is really beautiful and connects me to a unique space.

George Paul: Thank you! It is so difficult to find the REAL THING nowadays! You've managed to make it traditional and modern, it is my hope that more and more of our young people will do the same as they come into their musical talents and so. It was refreshing and calming to hear and reminded me of so many things of my youth. Again thank you and WELL DONE! Welalin, Krissy

I'm curious, do the woman on this tribe of people have their own songs too? Do they use drums too? I know in some tribes it's traditional for one gender to sing, or drum, or both- but it really depends. Does anyone know what it's like for the Míkmaq?
@Shadic243677 жыл бұрын
We can make our own songs freely and either gender can sing and dance all they like, along with drumming but it's very uncommon for woman to sing and drum in Mi'kmaq for reasons I don't know, they don't feel like it I guess hahaha
