Great video, very helpful. For any newbies, if you have never removed a rear wheel before, one thing I like to do is before I tighten anything, I give the wheel "a good spin" to make sure everything is lined up and no squealing; brakes or tires, etc.

Sorry guys at 19:13 I made a mistake in the video and the factory freewheel is a 14-28 not 13-28 I don’t know what I was thinking LOL! It is not the same as sixth gear on the new one and you actually lose that gear so you only keep three of the original gears. I just ordered an XP 2.0 yesterday...I was going to get the 3.0...but circumstances wouldn't allow me to. One of the main reasons I had narrowed my choice to the 3.0 was chiefly due to the freewheel difference between the 2.0 and seeing you make the switch, I really appreciate the work you've done to let me know that I CAN do it myself if I want to make the change (which I probably will sooner or later). Keep up the good work. As far as ebike channels go, yours is one of the most thorough and informative I have found to date.

This video was super helpful for me. Having never really worked on bikes, this gave me the confidence I needed. I'm a little embarrassed that I had fully tightened the wheel back before I realized I needed to put the chain on while putting the wheel back, which is a little awkward. For those with step-thru 2.0 like me, I didn't see a spacer disc anywhere while changing the free wheel. But the new freewheel seemed to work fine even so. Thanks again!

I completed the upgrade thanks to your video. Ran into a bit of trouble with my XP 2.0 ST that is different from the video, my bike did not have a removable spacer behind the original gear so when I installed the replacement the gears were way out of alignment and had to do some major adjustment. Luckily I found a shimano derailleur adjustment video and problem solved. Oh and the upgrade is awesome no more freewheeling here.

I put an 11-34 that you have linked and it is night and day. I mean totally different ride. The 34 was insanely nice to the point of getting goosebumps with first steep hill. I live in WV and on a hill so there's a few treacherous and some intermediate hills on my commute. I had to push on the huge ones before and now I can kick it in to 1st and pedal with absolute ease. I put it in 2nd for intermediate hills no problem. To give you an idea of how well it rides I can pedal it easily from a full stop with no motor at all and it doesn't feel like pedaling a tank. Also, before I was having trouble hitting 28 on flat ground and running out of pedal, now it's a humongous change and have plenty of pedal even when topping out. The only thing I had to adjust was the tension screw (not sure of exact name) that you can adjust by hand on the before the gear derailleur. Perfect video.

Jerry : I changed the freewheel on my fat tire bike. The freewheel was a Shimano. The gears were 1st 28 and 7th was 14. The replacement was a DNP freewheel 1st 34 and 7th is 11. I had to buy a new Shimano Turney TY300 6/7 speed rear derailleur of of Amazon, from Larry's Bicycles. The cost was only $19.55 tax included. The derailleur that came on the bike was a cheap Shimano with no B adjustment screw. The jockey wheel would not clear the much larger diameter 1st gear. I bought a new chain and 2 extra master links. I had to add several links to the new chain, from my original chain, that was not stretched, to get the correct length to attain the correct angle on the tensioner jockey wheel arm. Great video series. By the way, what is the part # on the hub motor? Thanks
@JeremiahMcintosh4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info Don. I was wondering if the 11-34 freewheel would clear the derailer on the xp. You said you changed it in your fat tire bike....was it on a Lectric XP or different bike?
@MrTUBER4084 жыл бұрын
@@JeremiahMcintosh It was on a 26" fat tire bicycle. The 28 tooth sprocket is about 114mm/4.5" diameter, tooth peak to tooth peak. The 34 tooth sprocket is around 145 or 6mm/5.7" diameter, tooth peak to tooth peak. I have a Lectric XP on order. Lectric was supposed to start shipping on 4/27. If the derailleur on the XP has a B adjusting screw it may have enough adjustment to allow the jockey wheels enough travel to clear the larger 1st gear. The derailleur on my bike was designed to work pacifically with the standard 7 speed, 14/28 freewheel. Front and rear derailleurs have a sprocket max. size limit. I imagine that if the XP has a derailleur designed to work with a 7/8 speed free wheel it may work.

A small tip, if you get hold of a threaded bar about half inch dia. (you might have one from your front forks when the bike was packed?) , two washers and nuts, and rwo blocks of wood drilled half through the size of the bar. Cut the bar until it fits between the rear top tube of your bike with the blocks on each end. Then if you fit the nut and washers to the ends , you can use the nuts to expand the rear enough to easily clear the wheel spindles. Remove it to get the wheel off, and replace it through the spokes and tighten it again to replace the spindle . Niice, cheap and easy way to do an awkward job.

Jeremiah, I was wondering how I would work on my bike upside down with damaging the components and computer display. Since I did not have the styrofoam blocks or bench to use I came up with an alternate idea which is great for those folks in apartments or spouses not wanting you to use the family coffee table. (-: You inspired me to to get a couple foam yoga blocks to rest the front grips on, and an 18" folding step stool to rest the rack on. Here are the links from Amazon for anyone who wants to do the same. Foam yoga blocks - folding

Caution when mounting rear tire! Jeremiah, I did not replace my freewheel yet, but did have an opportunity to remove my rear wheel to replace tires and tubes and slime them. A few days after the repairs were complete I happen to notice my chain/derailer was very close to my tire when in 1st gear, almost touching. I compared to my other XP and noticed the other had an approx. 1/2" clearance. After confirming that my derailer and other components were not bent I attempted a derailer adjustment to no avail. I then stuck my fingers in between the frame and front of tire on each side and confirmed the tire was centered. I then compared to my other XP and realized the tire on the other XP was mounted slightly bias to the left. That is to say the front of the rear tire is approx. 1/4" closer to the frame than the left side. When I researched this it turned out fat tire bikes in general have tight tolerances between chain/tire especially in 1st gear due to the fat 4" tires. Makes sense. To fix the issue I loosened the rear axle nuts on both sides and lifted the rear of bike off the ground. I could then shake the rear tire and realized the washers with a lock tooth allowed the wheel mount to move approx. 1/8" on the azimuth . I pushed the front of the tire towards the left (or rear of tire towards the right) like the other XP and tightened. Chain alignment issue was now resolved with a substantial clearance in 1s gear. I wanted to point this out to anyone who removes the rear wheel for any reason. You need to verify that when in 1st gear, your chain/derailer are not rubbing against your tire. In retrospect, Lectric should have used a 6 speed freewheel and allowed more of a gap between the 1st gear chain/tire clearance rather than having to install wheel off center.
@13Voodoobilly693 жыл бұрын
Are you saying that when the axle is sitting completely seated in the axle frame dropouts with the nuts loose that the wheel is not correctly aligned and you tweaked it sideways for clearance before tightening?

There also is no retaining washer with the Allen screw. Everything swapped out perfectly. I also added whitewall tires just for fun, while i was taking it apart anyway. Kudos on a great channel! I just replaced the free wheel and seat suspension thingy, and it’s a whole new bike! I had already found & purchased the same ROCKBROS Bike Rack Bag Trunk Bag, which is really cool. The fold down panniers work great and you can store things in there too. The cloud 9 seat, the reflective wheel tape and other stuff you’ve shown, I’ve pretty much apeded and I am super happy with everything. This video in particular made changing the fly wheel a snap! Keep up the good work and thanks!

I am getting the bike next month. I want to put the sweptback handlebars on for comfort. Question: do I need to know the stem size or any other mounting concerns when ordering new handlebars? thanx
@JeremiahMcintosh4 жыл бұрын
Based on other people I believe they need to be 25.4mm where they mount but I haven’t upgraded mine yet.

@@JeremiahMcintosh thanx, I have a concern about the tires on the xp. I put slime in each tires, and inflated them to about 18lbs. Rode it first day about 20 miles, no issues. The next day I rode it about 3 miles, the rear tire went flat. There were no holes in tube or tire, but I discovered when you inflate them keep the bike on a rack or just somehow do not inflate while bike sits on the weight of the tires. They will not seal on the wheels properly. Slowly inflate them while rotating the tire to see if they seal onto the wheel evenly. Then after I inflated them, I rolled the bike around pushing down on it to insure a seal. Seems strait forward when inflating them, but they easily will not seal correctly if not careful. Also, there is no cruise control, I followed your instructions, and cruise control does not come up on screen, only walk, no matter how short/long I press the down button. Maybe this is an option they do not offer on the 2020 bikes. thanks again Jeremiah.
@JeremiahMcintosh4 жыл бұрын
You should have cruise control you have to be in PAS 1 through five hold the throttle without pedaling to your desired speed and then hold the down button at the same time. If you are not holding the throttle then it will go to walk mode.

I need to do this for my next upgrade, I have been hearing alot about it. Love your videos! I have been doing similar ones for this bike on my channel. Thank you for this!

Will adopt this on my ado a20+ wich has a cassette one. I felt always that the transmission ratio for gear 7 is too high. Especially when unlocked to higher speeds than 25. Thx

Great videos, I have subbed! Question though, can you upgrade the 3.0 tires on the new Lectric bike to 4.0 tires on the same rims? Also where could I find a set of the blue rims that you see on the Sondor Fold ebike?
@JeremiahMcintosh2 жыл бұрын
Not sure about the rims but no you cannot upgrade the 2.0 to 4 inch tires because the tires would be too wide to fit in the frame and forks.

Great review. I just got our Xp lectric bike last week I can already tell it is awesome. The only problem is the speed o meter and trip doesn’t work. Lectric said they are going to send me a new wheele and motor. The motor is why it’s not giving the speed. I have to what to see what all I get.

if u can take some measurements of and or video of the handlebar post connection to the fork.? I should be getting my xp in the next couple of weeks and am planning to upgrade the fork to a suspension fork. ive found a few fat tire forks but haven't ordered anything yet because im not sure and I dont want to spend money on something that wont work / fit the frame. I think you might like the upgrade and get views on a video upgrading the fork. its definitely one of the top wants of owners as far as ive seen. someone at lectric said they hadn't found one that works yet.? but if you did an amazon affiliate link to it might make you somethin.? just a request/idea if I get mine and do the upgrade before I see a video from you on it ill post a link to the fork and any special tools needed. thanks for the freewheel info.

I advise people to think about where they will be using their bikes. Where i live its all up and down terrain, not much flat, so i went for the 14 - 34T which gives me plenty of gears for the hills. I think the 11-28T is a great choice if you ride your bike on mainly flat terrain.
@JeremiahMcintosh4 жыл бұрын
Or you can use 11-34 and get the best of both worlds!

Hi Jeremiah, We Received our two XP 2.0”s a few days ago. I definitely want to put a different freewheel on. Even in PAS 5 and in the 6th or 7th gear the pedals cannot catch up to the motor, and I have not even adjusted the speed to 28 mph yet.Will the 11-28 freewheel work as well on the new 2.0 Lectric?
@wireguy123 Жыл бұрын
Does this still work with the new Lectric Premium
@E-BikingAdventures2 жыл бұрын
I just ordered a 11-34. My cheap chinese stock freewheel has a busted 11(7th gear). The ratcheting has so much play in it, that it bangs every time you start to pedal. You really do need that 11 for an ebike. I've never had to gear down to 1st, but my bike came with the 11-34, so that's what I ordered.

@@JeremiahMcintosh Just put this freewheel on the T42. It went on almost exactly like the Lectric. I also had to remove the shim that went between the freewheel and the motor. Unable to test it on the road but the gears seem to shifting well. I may need to adjust the derailer slightly once I road test it. I am looking at the Anioki A7 Pro now. My wife loves the T42 so I may bite the bullet and buy the A7 Pro.
