Jeremy Kyle goes into Room 101 thanks to Robert Webb

Robert Webb nominates the Kyle show to go into Room 101 and quite rightly succeeds! Does ITV consider multiple back-to-back episodes of this programme suitable for weekend morning viewing? I don't think fat ginger girls screaming at each other is what people want to watch early on a Sunday! And why do they waste their time adding sign language for the deaf for the overnight episodes? What an absolute waste of time and resources! You should be ashamed of yourself, ITV. Put something more socially responsible on rather than generating all this conflict that makes me want to throw something at the tv every time I happen to catch it!

Well done to Robert for being ahead of the curve on that one and vocalising it publicly. And yes… I know that this is a comedy show and there’s license to say things in a forum with less risk of backlash but it’s very clear he really believes what he’s saying. He’s not saying it for comic effect.

Quality doesn’t matter when it comes to broadcasting a show, what matters is the accessibility. Sign language is mostly used because some deaf people prefer sign language to subtitles and find it clearer. And in my opinion, there should be separate versions of every channel which do all the broadcasting of the original channel but with 24-hour sign language and in another separate channel, 24-hour audio description. It shouldn’t just be something which is shown briefly on television. Deaf people need accessibility. I think streaming services should have a sign language option as well.
