Man life was so much simpler back then.. no internet, no mobile phones, magazines and vhs tapes/ DVDs were the only way to see your idols. These old clips were and still are the best to watch

I don’t think anyone is gonna be able to ever top the King of SX with his 72 wins! Tomac is second right now with 51 and I think with Jett Lawrence coming up Tomac won’t get the record. The 90’s when McGrath raced was the best racing! Before 4 strokes took over. MC always had the sweetest bikes, helmets, gear and riding style! MC was so smooth and his style back then was insane! Not a lot of people know he was a great outdoor racer as well, SX was his baby and where he dominated most! His podium interviews were always really good! He didn’t just thank his sponsors and be a robot up there. He had a huge presence and lots of people tried to emulate him! I grew up a Honda kid but McGrath turned me into a Yamaha guy! MC was always cool when talking to him as well! Always had time for his fans when he could! I talked to him for a while at San Francisco SX in 08 as his career was winding down. We were at Hangtown one year and me and a buddy were walking and MC was coming into the pits and my buddy said hey Jeremy! Carmichael is gonn steal your thunder! McGrath just laughed and gave my buddy the finger! It was hilarious! The MC battles with RC in the early years were amazing! I cheered on MC even tho I grew up with Keidrowski and Mike was my boy! Mike was an outdoor guy and only wins in SX were at Daytona but slayed it outdoors! One of the few guys who won a championship in 125, 250, and 500’s. I wish MC still Raced SX! But he’s been killing it racing in Mammoth since his retirement.

To me this is my favorite MC era! I was a Emig fan so I hated MC. Respected the hell out of him though! His Honda days were so dominant it got boring! At least in these Yamaha days he was the best but had guys that could beat him like yogi,DV,Kdub, and it made it interesting.

And as much as I was a Emig fan. If Suzuki and roger D would have never let Wyatt seals be MC mechanic . And had Skip Norfolk working on that RM250 I believe He wins that 97 championship.
