I love to carry a multitool, and one of the most important times I like to have tools is when I am away from home, traveling, or flying. Well, guess what, planes don't exactly like multitools because most of them have knives. The ones that don't are basically useless so I have put together a proven TSA-friendly toolset that has been through carry-on checks on most major airlines in the US.

A great replacement option for the screwdriver(and fishtail) is the Milwaukee fastback 1505, it’s a utility knife/box cutter (so you can take the blades out before TSA and buy new ones at any gas station) and on the other end it is a full size screwdriver (Philips and flat head, that locks!) it also has a bottle opener and extra blade slot, seatbelt/rope cutter. The only thing you’d be sacrificing is the other bits BUT you could also carry a smaller bit holder for those. As a bonus it is also fun to open and close.

Those knipex mini Kobras are great. If anything better than the big ones. Why would you want big ones that hurt you? These are gentle and have a great personality.

Something is back feeding through that neutral. It could be an appliance you have plugged in and when you go to work on the outlet you unplug it. Or you could be back feeding through a ballast in a light fixture. To narrow it down throw the breaker on for the plug that has the back feed. See if there is still power on the neutral. If NOT, then the back feed is somewhere on THAT circuit. Unplug all the appliances and see if that gets it. If so unplug in one appliance at a time. Don't forget the light fixtures. If there IS still power on that neutral start throwing circuits one by one. When (and if ) the power drops on the neutral go through the same procedure above. Good luck.

TSA took my scissors that were similar to yours. They said it was dangerous because it had an exposed "sharp" side. The scissor cutting length was only 1.5 inches long.

Definitely 9 inches if you measure from the base.

Btw, little tip for the knipex. I found that if you try to really torque down a bolt, I find that its a bit painful so I wrapped mines handles in a bit of electrical tape to soften it up a bit and it adds very little bulk.

It was pretty funny when you used the tiny measuring tape to measure the tiny knipex

Awesome kit! It's important to remember that ANY tool that a TSA agent can expand to over 7" could be taken away. I lost a bladeless Gerber MP600 and a couple of things that way over the years. These are good choices.

I like the overall implementation of your kit. I have the Steelman. I may have to replace the extension on it like you did. That is the one weak point in it's design. I need to pickup the Knipex. I fly with my Leatherman Style PS that is blade-free but has pliers & scissors. A Victorinox Jetsetter is also blade-free and has scissors.

Sounds like the neutral lead is ether connected to a hot terminal or is shorted to the ot the hot. You may need to work back through all the junction boxes maybe even replace the conductors.

The shears are good for 2 or 3 uses so it's not going to be cost efective, maybe you can get the Victorinox/Swiss Army Jetsetter, they also have the card which is very useful and will last longer, also get a light.
