The town likes to keep the numbers of creatures consistent, and takes from the population when it loses a creature. Lord help them if Kenny starts burning them. He'll doom the whole town to conversion into monsters. Remember when girlfriend creature said "it wasn't my choice" and how she looked remembering in the mirror, just as Smiley remembered driving when he sat in the bus? The town needs a replacement for Smiley, and Fatima is it. It's not "pregnancy", it's a misdiagnosis. She's converting. The rotting food is for her. I wouldn't be surprised if the town traps more people to replace Fatima and Kenny's mom, to keep the numbers balanced.

Sorry, buddy, but this theory doesn't make any sense. In reality, if you analyze the deaths/arrivals of people in the city you will realize this. For example, in S01E01, where the drunk guy's wife and daughter die, 6 people arrive that day, Jade and her friend, and the Mathews family (4 people). Another example, when there is a massacre at the colony's house, 12 people die, and about 22 ~ 25 people arrive on the bus. The people who enter the city are not to replace the dead people, but for other reasons that have not yet been clarified. (Although it has been suggested that from these people, from time to time some specific people are chosen to free the children, like Miranda and Tabitha, even if they fail). Regarding the creatures, they kill humans not because they took one of their own, but because they delight in seeing people's pain and suffering. This theory has no basis, because this is not shown or said by any of the characters; on the contrary, the monsters have always killed humans. In fact, everything leads us to believe that the death of the creature Smiley was the first, the first time that people managed to get revenge, at least until it is proven otherwise and that people in the past have killed other creatures. I don't know if normal people turn into monsters... This is purely speculative, but I admit that at least it makes a little more sense. Although Jasmine told Kevin that "it wasn't their choice to be that way", that was clear manipulation, there she was luring him so that he could give her and her ghoulish friends access to the colony's house. The way she looks in the mirror and Smiley sits on the bus seat is something to think about, however, there are few indications that they were actually people. I mean, it could be that, but it could also be a lot of other things, you know? Fatima is indeed having a strange pregnancy, if according to the descriptions of the next episodes, there are indications that things will not end well for one of the three, her, Ellis, or the baby.

I've always liked Kenny, but he is really getting ready to shine. And Boyd, omg he is the man. I wish all the best for him. He may fall, but will rise again. At least, that is my hope!

There's nothing to fix. This is how mystery box style storytelling is told. It's all mystery and setup in the beginning. This show requires patience as a viewer. When the answers come, the payoff will be worth it. This season we're only 2 episodes in and we already got a pretty massive answer regarding Miranda & Tabitha.
