This video explains the relationship between DNA, chromosomes and genes. To best understand this video you should make sure you have watched my 'What is DNA?' video. Chromosomes are made of DNA and genes are segments of chromosomes. Genes contain the code required to direct the manufacture of a polypeptide or RNA molecule. This occurs during Transcription and Translation which are part of Protein Synthesis. For more Biology video lessons check out www.anytimeeducation.com

I've used your videos during my prerequisite classes for nursing school to understand these kinds of information and I still continue to use your videos to brush up on the same information! I just love how well you break it down so if someone didn't know what chromosomes, dna, and genes are that they are able to understand and put it together. Please continue to make videos!

Wow! My grammar is poor when I'm excited :P What I was trying to say was thank you for this very simple but informative video on Chromosomes and Genes. This was the exact video I was trying to KZbin search to help me better understand my textbook titled "The Developing Person Through Childhood and Adolescence." I'm reading chapter 3 titled "Heredity and Environment." I especially enjoyed the DNA recap at the beginning. What was taking me an hour to read you explained very well in a manner of minutes. Now I have a better understanding of where the Adenine, Cytosine, Thiamine and Guanine fit in with DNA. I also have a better understanding that DNA is in the Chromosome which are in the nucleus of a cell. I'm literally jumping for joy at this simple explanation. I work at a Montessori school during the day, take ECE and Psychology classes at night and so you can probably tell that when it's time to read my textbook, it's either late at night or early in the morning. Your presentation is excellent! I can see your face (that's important to me for some reason), I can clearly read your notes and you picked perfect pictures to describe what you're talking about. You're basically my official KZbin Tutor on Genetics. Keep up the great work!!!

Because the way you present the information makes it easier for a layman with almost zero knowledge on the topic like me to grasp and help construct the picture the relationship in my head, I've subscribed for more videos of yours. I have a basic question, though, that your clarification would be much appreciated: Is it true that in the process of fertilization, when XY chromosome becomes unsuccessful, the attempt will revert to XX chromosome which is the default state? I'm not sure if I devised my question properly because English is not my first language, plus being new in the domain of knowledge. Thanks!
