I finally got around to doing some repairs on my 80 year old Logan Model 200 Lathe. I have more repairs I need to do do.

A video a week is cool and I also don't dislike this type of smaller improvement projects, they are great. But I love the longer, bigger projects. So don't feel stressed to push out one a week 😁

I know that feeling, the parts you need most always seem to take the longest to ship. By the way this is my favorite channel currently, but please don’t feel like you NEED to put out a video a week. Quality over quantity I like to say. Oh yeah and screw all the people that give you shit over converting the jeep to electric, those are the same people who would take that same Jeep, lift it 8 inches, swap motor, tranny and axles, new interior, new roll cage etc. But you’re a jerk for putting in an electric motor? Keep up the good work my man!

I can relate to the 'I have too many projects going, so let's tackle another.' I find these small projects to be a satisfying distraction from the larger projects that are becoming overwhelming at the moment.

I had to do exactly the same bushing repair on the Boley Lathe saddle drive a couple of years ago. You made a good video of this stuff. I always struggle to find a coherent thread to make a video of such little maintenance projects.

I would suggest checking out McMaster for oilite bushings. They have many combinations and since you machined the slide, you could easily match one up.

I do not have a lot of projects, but my wife does not stop saying the opposite. What if one or two of the faucets leaked a little, what is the damage that a few doves can do if they built their nests on the balcony 8 years ago?

I really love your channel, your videos are always interesting and I’m really enjoying the Jeep project, specially the cast aluminium adaptor for the gearbox! I completely get it what you said at the start as I’m currently trying to make a small dividing head with an electric motor gear reductor( it will have a bit of slop but for now it’s acceptable) an some other suff as a spindle for a toll post grinder. I always wanted to change the motor on my lathe with a 3phase one and a VFD and I’ve decided that it’s time to do it so I’ve taken the occasion to strip down the saddle cross slide etc do do some maintenance that it’s needed once in a while.

I'd recommend 3d printing the halfnuts, PLA been working fine with my 1940s atlas lathe, and its easy to keep a spare set around if needed too. Thingiverse has a few for the atlas/craftsman, don't know if they have any specific for yours. I designed (and published) mine to print one part for both sides, that was a thread math surprise for me that I got that to work.

Ive got a face plate stuck on my lathe spindle...damn thing is driving me nuts...It wont come off and niether will enough of the rest of the lathe to get the spindle out....actually I think the spindle won't come out without getting the face plate off. catch 22 Pleased your lathe is getting some well deserved R and R Thanks for sharing

I feel your pain. At some point you may need to go for the nuclear option and cut it off (like I did with collet chuck in my mill. Trepan off most of the face plate, then turn down to the threads (I presume it’s a threaded spindle.
@TalRohan
@TalRohan 3 күн бұрын
@@JeremyMakesThings it is threaded yes. Thats a good idea thanks, If I am careful I can cut back to the tips of the spindle thread and the rest should mostly drop out ...he says hopefully... I might even film it lol

I have a Logan Wards 700. It looks very similar to your 200. Not the same but close. Do you have trouble with the nut for the handwheel on your tailstock coming loose? If I tighten mine up the handwheel gets too tight to use. I have to leave it sort of loose and that bothers me. I've had it apart a few times but I can't find why it does this.

Fixing the machine that fixes the machine. That's cool. But dont feed me any BS about the lock handle. Sure, it now clears the tail stock base. But clearing the crank handle when it is vertical? That was luck... 《g》

You must be new to KZbin, so let me explain how this sort of video is supposed to work: 1. Take the machine entirely apart 2. Clean and sand every bit of it 3. Spray every piece of it black, maybe choose an accent color 4. Re-assemble it, take some 360-degree video of how sexy it looks 5. Never show it on the channel again. We sent you a rulebook, please be sure to read it before making such a mistake again. Thanks, The MGT
