So about Parasol Henbee: The encounter with the giant monkey actually requires you to go past it. There's a large rock you push that leads to the exit. There is a final boss, an Oni, not sure if he's affiliated with the anime, but it is an actual boss fight. You rescue a little bird, and basically watch as both fly back, and get a congratulatory end screen. So yea. You didn't miss much.

Yay. Glad that Game Boy has returned for at least one video. I know so little about the deep cuts of the library that it's always very informative. Glad I stayed awake for this one.

Personally, I'm grateful for Game Boy Works! I use it as a reference when game shopping to see what of the mountain of old GB games are actually worth picking up. There's so many to sift through! And it's great to have an entertaining and informative review to help guide the way! Thanks for all your hard work, Jeremy! Happy 5th year!

I'm looking forward to celebrating Game Boy Works' 25th/Game Boy's 30th anniversary in 2039, where I'll still have only made it midway through 1992's catalog of games

Nah, I have way too much skin in this game. I've acquired a year's worth of boxed Game Boy releases for this and I need to justify that sweet, sweet tax write-off.

I’ve picked up so many hidden gems on Game Boy thanks to Jeremy Parish’s series. These aren’t two of them.

Even if the game itself isn't exactly awe-inspiring, the premise of Square Deal is something I find really interesting. Baten Kaitos put a similar poker-inspired card-matching system into a turn-based RPG, and it's always been one of my favorite RPGs because of how unique its combat is. Not enough games challenge your brain in multiple ways at once.

as much as i like the name Square Deal, it might have sold better with a more direct name like Puzzle Poker

I didn't hear it mentioned, but there's also an arcade version of Cadillac/Square Deal called Gun Dealer, also produced by Hect but published by Tecmo. Speaking of Hect, they weren't *technically* responsible for City Connection; rather they were started by Jaleco staff in 1988, led by the guy who produced City Connection, Formation Z, and Bases Loaded. Confusion has arisen in attribution because another company spun off from Hect in 1992 (Axes Art Amuse) claimed all those old Jaleco titles in their works history.

these two games actually look pretty interesting. square deal has a nice puzzle game premise and parasol henbee has those cute mini sprites with a tonne of things on the screen which is always interesting on the game boy.

Wait a minute... Parasol Henbee's death music sounds near-exactly like the SNES Doraemon games' death music. Epoch worked on those as well. Those are pretty decent if you can get past the language barrier.

I wonder if the bosses and weird encounters in Parasol Henbee make more sense if you're a big fan of the cartoon itself. Maybe it's one of those things where if you're familiar with the license you're yelling (positively) at the screen because they rendered your favorite episode in game form, but to anyone else it's just nonsense because the game creator expects you to know something from the source material.
