Baseball retrospective [remastered]: Less a home run than a forced error | Game Boy Works

(This is the second of eight planned Game Boy Works remastered episodes.)
Nintendo revisits one of their oldest original creations for the Game Boy's launch, and the result is a baseball game even more primitive than one from six years prior. The real star of this show: Link cable support, allowing two baseball fanatics to suffer in unison.

I played the hell outta this when I was a kid :) I found it enjoyable but my fav baseball game of that era is SNK's Baseball Stars. I would create teams and call them characters from Ninja Turtles lol. I would even go out of my way to make sure to trade for a female to play April O'Neil lol :P

It's surprising to me that Europe got Game Boy so late - Bergsala by this point had already established themselves as a premier distributor of both NES and Game & Watch, and to my knowledge Sweden was the first big international market for Game & Watch to begin with. I suppose it is hard to track down, since Sweden was handled entirely separately from the cobbled-together Nintendo of Europe, and still is today, showing how much trust Nintendo still has in Bergsala.

Baseball was published in Europe by Nintendo, but only in the UK, so UKV version. No FAH, for sure, though.

Do you have any more info on that? None of the multiple sources I use have any record of a European version of Baseball for Game Boy in their databases. I really hate how sketchy and ill-documented EU releases for Nintendo systems can be.

Sorry, but the information that this game never released in Europe is wrong. It has been released in at least two versions DMG-BS-UKV, which was released in the UK DMG-BS-GPS, which was released in Italy (maybe others too)

this game was just too slow. Bases loaded for gameboy fixed a lot of the problems, and played very competently.
