I'm very impressed with how well you two get along after being together for so long. I used to take cross country trips every other year with whoever I could get to come with me. After two weeks in a car with some of my friends, I wanted to kill them and leave them on the side of the road. I guess because you are on bikes it is not as bad. Thanks for sharing.

I always think about that as well, when i watch these vids.. It takes a special kind of friendship to get along so well like these guys do.

Dropped my Vstrom in New Mexico after a huge storm , front tire locked up from mud between fender and tire . Picked up the bike and luckily had a few tools and a bungee to lift fender higher and still dropped the bike one more time before making it home! After that experience I purchased continental TKC 80’s for my 4 mile dirt road just off the hi way. The county put material on the road that turned to peanut butter after moisture just like in the video.

Far northern Nevada gets that same type of mud. Even worse when it washes down onto the roads. You can be going along on fairly stable stuff and suddenly hit six inches of slick pudding. Nasty stuff. It wipes out any post-storm winter riding around here. Especially after a snow melt.

Since I just bought my first Dual Sport motorcycle I wanted to be legal and more importantly an educated safer rider . I have ridden friends dirtbikes and quads down in Baja . I totally loved riding those quads along the Sea of Cortez above the East Cape . That sunset desert aroma was amazing , all the desert flowers would just take over the air and if it was a solo vacation I probably would just have slept on the quad till the sun rose but I had to return to family . One evening I went up a half mile wide Arroyo and in the beginning there were these emaciated cows and a couple beat up old trucks with about 5 or 6 family members and their herd of 100 cattle . I proceeded slowly and waved saying Ola and mucho vacas and we laughed . After an hour brush bashing and trail riding it was time to head back as it was pitch black except for my headlights . I was going slower as I got closer to where I thought the herd might be . I could hear this weird crunching sound and an occasional cow fart . When I finally saw what that sound was it pretty disheartening . The cows were eating thick vegetable boxes , the kind that are used in delivering produce from farm to store . They were tearing and eating cardboard . I saw some reality that night , the reality that we have it real sweet here in America . I already knew that but this really hit home . That was in 2012 when the economy was crap all over the world . I want to go back down there soon and spend some time with the locals and see if I can't help them out . I saw many ways that I could help them out with . Maybe one day those cows won't have to eat boxes to survive and those families can provide a better life for themselves . Passed the beginner rider safety course and will go to the DMV next week take the written test and be on my way . Love your videos . Take care .

Think that mud is gonna stop you? Hell no! Gotta love the KLR. Who cares if it gets that dirty. A brand new 2018 is only $7,000. Safe to say you didn't see and BMW's out there.

Looks like fun. Deepest mud I’ve ever been through was on a horse and it was mid thigh. The horses didn’t like it at all lol. Horses are fun but I think a klr would be funner.

What route were you on before fields? the green, blue or red? We just rode this in sept. and don't remember any long stretches of dirt road. We did the blue route down into the ranch area with the faded out two track through the pasture and then the creek crossing that had been washed out but then hit a really nice gravel road to the pavement before fields.

Growing up on a ranch in the Southwest, I think to myself; these guys are crazy to do cross country during July-August (monsoon season). But probably the best adventure of your lives. Have fun!!!! Thanks for the vids. Return trip should be a bit more pleasant.
@trevorjameson32136 жыл бұрын
Alberto Medina Wallace , I was thinking that, too. But maybe being from Vermont , they were not aware of the summer monsoon? Also, in the vid where the storm came through at night, they were lucky it didn’t have large hail in it!
