My family used to own a Casio keyboard way back when I was younger and I remember really enjoying playing on it. It's been at least 15 years since I've touched a piano/keyboard and I have been wanting to play again. So, I have been watching keyboard reviews on KZbin, trying to find one that's just right for me. I found your channel recently and I find your reviews/comparisons extremely helpful. Thanks! A new subscriber here.
@bryangl14 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Unexpectedly (for me) the Yamaha Grand piano was inferior to the Casio (I usually find I prefer Yamaha, but not here). The organ comparison didn't really show much as the Casio had a Tremolo/vibrato active, whereas the Yamaha didn't. Yamaha Sax definitely better, the Casio one was terrible; acoustic guitar, differences more narrow so hard to choose. Yamaha win in the actual quality of the rhythm arrangements but peripheral features to the rhythm patches had plus and minus aspects that, for me, negated the differences in these capabilities. Verdict: if. for me, I was limited in budget to choose between these two; if I was primarily interested in piano sound (although it's more than just the sound that matters), I'd pick the Casio, but if my purpose was for more widespread arranger qualities, it would be the Yamaha.

Yamaha's piano does sound compressed. Casio's sounds more wooden in a dry timber sort of way. Yamaha's improves quickly with some ctrl knob tweaking. Casio requires about 5 or 10 minutes of menu diving.

Thanks for the review. I own a Casio CT-X3000. Now I will express my opinion which keyboard is better. The Yamaha PSR-E463 is better in terms of tone quality and overall sound. The Casio CT-X3000 is a bit inferior: the sound is a little plasticky and lacks soft bass in the overall mix. In terms of style and tone editing capabilities, the presence of phrase pads, many registration memories and other features, Casio far exceeds the PSR-E463. Conclusion. If you need a tool for learning or for playing music and getting to know musical styles without editing them, Yamaha is better. If you're looking for an inexpensive arranger, this is the CT-X3000. Casio has one point that you need to pay attention to before buying. After about a year of use, the keys begin to rustle and the further the stronger. This is the result of the lubricant on the keys wearing out and is not difficult to reapply. For me, this is not a problem, I do it in 1 hour, but for this you need to disassemble a little tool. For whom this is unacceptable Casio is not for you.

They are both equally good with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 things that would separate them. I think that keyboards that have that large piano feel as far as the keys themselves are best. But then that goes with the budget of buying a keyboard.

I can hear what you're saying Jeremy. Surprised ... I like the Casio Grand Piano a tad better. I'm not sure enough I prefer it enough to go with the Casio (plus I have a Kurzweil piano module I love to cover those sounds). I love the CDP-S350, but it's got to be even more difficult to navigate than the CT-X3000, which is cryptic enough, and it's for my 13 yr old boy to use too ... I think the PSR-E463 might be a better fit given user friendliness. I wish there was an affordable semi-weighted PSR-E463.

I like the Yamaha PSR-E463 better. I think the sounds "flow" the best. They are warmer, and I really like the way you can use the panel button to CHANGE the sound. That's cool. The organ sound was better on the CT-X. The styles are better on the CT-X also, more variations, not so redundant. I really like that you can download a lot of sounds on the Yamaha. I prefer the sax on that one too ... even the entry level models. Yamaha has nailed the sax sound. One thing that frustrates me a little about the guitar on my CT-X800 and this 3000 too .. While there is a lot more clarity on the Casio.. (one tries to get that "fingernails-on-th-strings" clarity).. I just wish keyboard samples would capture the sustain and resonance of an acoustic guitar. Real guitars are far richer in sound. It seems that guitar sounds on keyboards, generally speaking, are dry and choppy. Nylon strings have less sustain but I've NEVER heard a decent steel string on any keyboard. Not even close. So, I think I like the Yamaha, it has a little more flow. One thing about guitar on a keyboard .. you sure can play it a LOT easier than a real guitar. To play that fast and create some of the same chords (you couldn't), one's fingers would end up in knots. So keyboard offers many more chords.and easier expression. I wonder if there is a REAL sounding guitar sample out there. There is software you can buy that's pretty close, like Native Instruments picking session. The strings on a CT-X are very, very good.. so sweet. I'm anxious to find out if the Yamaha PSR-E373 is better than the previous model. If I were to buy one of these in your video.. it would be the Yamaha PSR-E463. Not for capabilities, but overall sound. The AIX sound chip is really amazing in the Casio models and some of the other tones are very realistic, but my ear likes the Yamaha and it fits what I like to play. I love it when you do comparisons and it's REALLY useful for prospective buyers. .

@Panos-Veria4 жыл бұрын
Hi Shelly, in order to find a better guitar sound you have to look at the higher level of arranger keyboards. And while Genos with it's s.art2! voices is far too expensive, look for videos on how acoustic guitars sound on the Yamaha SX700. It has s.art! voices and you can also watch videos with older models with guitar sounds like PSR S770/S970 so you can understand what "effect" super articulation voices are creating for each different sound and kind of instrument. Of course a PSR-SX700 is 3 times more expensive than a PSR-E463. Here you can find an article on the official Yamaha's page on how s.art! voices produce the sounds and how to use them while playing: hub.yamaha.com/super-articulation-part-2-guitar-and-clarinet-voices/

Dear Jeremy, thank you for your videos! I have a question 👋. In your opinion, comparing Casio WK 7600 vs Yamaha PSR EW310, which piano sound better to your ears? Thank you 😊
@WillsJazzLoft2 жыл бұрын
I think that one of the first things that should be understood is that the EW series replaced many of the mid-level priced DGX 200/300 series which were retired about four years ago. Casio very similarly trimmed their product lines in the WK lineup. I think the only WK boards still in production aside from the 7600 are the 7500 and the 6600. Just like the Yamaha EW series they are budget priced keyboards - but with serious arranger capabilities. Typically, one of the most prominent features in such keyboards is the auto accompaniment. It's a band in a box for the musician without a rhythm section. If you can't find a KZbin video that can compare the two, you may need to take a trip to a music store in your neighborhood
@7o7-zoz974 жыл бұрын
You contradicted yourself when you compared the USB ports, it's confusing. Anyway i think the Yamaha sounds sweeter and full bodied, in other words closer to the analogue instruments in terms of waveform modelling. CASIO does better at giving premium features not sound though IMO.
