Considering the fact that Casio is more user-friendly, I personally agree that the CT-X700 is much better than PSR-E373. Plus, the AiX sound technology also produces great sounds. It would be very much helpful, convenient and excellent for long-term usage, especially for beginners. BTW, this is a great video, Jeremy! Hope you and your family continue to prosper. Stay safe.

I still bought Yamaha E373, coz sound of piano was important for me. Which is way better than Casio. Also there is no DSPs Ot Super articulation Function in Casio.

I think the main piano sound of these 2 keyboards are at a similar level. My ears and musical/timbre taste hears the CT-X700's main piano sound as a better piano sound compared to the PSR-E373's main piano sound. There are others who's ears and musical/timbre taste hears the PSR-E373's main piano sound as a better piano sound compared to the CT-X700's main piano sound. So it is subjective which sound is better, because non of us have a control of which aspects of these sounds are our ears and musical/timbre taste enjoys more. And non of us is going to convince our senses/tastes otherwise, because our tastes is not really in our control, we can't help it. A similar example to our musical taste would be food taste. Some people like salty food more compared to sweet food. Others like sweet food more compared to salty food. We can't help liking one taste better than the other taste. So the question of "Which keyboard sounds better?" in this case is not mainly a question of some kind of objective-, measurable-, technical facts, but it is about our senses (our hearing with our ears), and our senses are subjective observation-devices, they are tied to the subject, the subject is us, and-/or our subjective musical timbre taste.

Nice comparison. While Casio has improved their keyboards with new functions, specs, and sound generator, I still find some of the voices of it inferior to the same voices of Yamaha keyboards, however, the electric pianos of Casio are better than Yamaha, especially the Galaxia EP sound.

I have bought the Casio CTC 870IN. After using it for a year, I would say, for Beginners, YAMAHA E363 or E373 is better as in the beginning years, we use the keyboard very roughly.. The yamaha build quality is better than Casio. I am using the older E354 & E343 in my class & they r still tough & intact althoug so many students use it. On the contrary, using Casio a little rough, & the keys are making a clicking sound which is very irritating now. Casio is highly feature rich, very crisp & great sound & very user friendly, but I recommend it only after 5-6 years of being an expert in keyboard, when ur fingers can glide smoothly on the keyboard & when u actually need to use the features. As a beginner, u won't need all these said features.

the Casio CTX 700 is quite far cheaper, the same price as Yamaha PSR E273 (in my place, at least), and has quicker access to features, while the Yamaha PSR E373 has DSP and super articulation, which could be useful sound quality wise, I think they're both quite similar I'm too confused now...

I am in the same situation and honestly I think the CT-X700 is better , because even though it has less range (for example it has a bit few less voices) it remains better user-friendly and I like the fact that its keys are box shaped rather than the PSR-E373's keys that look like a xylophone's keys. The PSR-E373 might have additional voices but it's not worth it in my opinion because at 600voices it's already a lot to be honest and it's enough. I don't know how far you are at right now but if you didn't decide yet search more , honestly as someone who's looking for a decent digital piano I feel the need to check the specs of each item that I consider as a candidate.

Casio every time for me, A great beginners keyboard, with a much better display than the awful Yamaha display. Casio shows me Chords & notes which I am playing on the right hand side of the display, & much easier on the eyes, as contrast can easily be adjusted. The tones are pretty realistic too.

Hi Jeremy interesting review as usual. One little comment: there are actually many DSPs on the CT-X700 and 800 but they are set and already assigned to each voice concerned. For instance, the rotary organ will always have the rotary DPS effect applied to it, the distorsion guitar will always have the distortion DSP applied to the sound, etc. Conversely, it is not possible to assign a DSP to a sound which does not have it programmed from the beginning.

Yes you are right. The DSP tone will light up but one cannot modify, activate or deactivate it which is really limiting.

Thank you for this review, Jeremy. For the review of these keyboards, I was expecting you to play each keyboard so we can compare the sound of each one. I have been reviewing keyboards this week (July 18, 2022), and one thing I noticed in two different videos regarding these two keyboards is the pricing difference. A lot of people have commented that these are in the same price range, however... I searched both keyboards today and the Casio is at $200 while the Yamaha is at $350. That is quite a difference for everyone to be saying these are at the same price point. If the review has these two keyboards close overall, I would go with the Casio and save the $150. But you did not give your opinion for which one you consider to be the better deal, even though you ask this question in the title of your video. Did you come to your own conclusion for which keyboard is the better deal?

Jeremy, thank you for these informative videos. Although I work professionally as as bassist, I’ve never learned piano and was looking to purchase an inexpensive keyboard for having around the house. Your content has helped me learn the ins and outs of these products. They both have their positive and negative aspects, but I decided on the Casio simply because to me, the piano/electric piano sounds are a little better and it comes with a power supply. The inability to adjust the volume while blending sounds in the biggest drawback to me, but since I’m not planning on using it for anything other than a learning tool, I don’t think it will be a big problem. I hope I made the right choice.

I finally decided to buy Casio ct x700 because of octave shift 😅. if audio sound is concern we can put it on Midi, connect to computer or mobile then use apps/software to have a great audio and there are plenty of choice. 😁

Neither pianos are perfect. But for me, I'm happy with my choice of the Yamaha PSRE373 61-Key Touch Sensitive Portable Keyboard If I want more I will invest more. Full feature all bangs and whistles will set me back a few grand. For me I'm not no where close to needing such features. In 4 or 5 years, maybe? Hi Jeremy, Here In India, we getting Yamaha PSR-E373 and Casio CT-X870IN (cheap Indian version 0f 8000) around the same price 13k (200 US$). Since CT-X870IN is way ahead of functioning and has pitch band too but quality wise looks cheaper to Yamaha interms of build as well as sound to me , so i am confused between since these two. Wether to go with the multifunctions or stick to standard requirement of just basic playing. So if you can help make me choice between these two. It will be my first keyboard . Thank you already. 😇

Hey Jeremy, why don’t you make a video reviving the most famous Korg Triton LE from 2002 and the original Korg Triton from 1999 that almost noone uses today despite its high quality of sounds. These keyboards are still worth buying today. You can compare the Triton LE with the EK-50 which interestingly has a piano sample that sounds very similar to the Triton. Even the famous-sounding tennor and baritone saxophones in the EK-50 are derived from the Triton. You can review the cost of each keyboard for anyone who wishes to buy one or the other. I am dying to here once again from the Korg Triton; that will be a throw-back for many people.

I totally agree, as I got on ebay myself a triton series (taktile49-2014) for 130euros fully working and I really enjoy both quality sounds and keybed/pads ..very well built....but right today, I hv got this new 'Gem' PSR E-373 from Yamaha(promo price 209euros on www.strumentimusicali.net/wishlist.php ..waiting for such keyboard since long time..aware of the fact that it records at 16 bit.. and that the new sounds, adopted from the top series, are downgraded at 8 bit. But, since the samples cores are originally high quality sampling files, the output audio from this e-373 is still on another level comparing with previous cheaper models..than everything magic can be done nowadays with latest re-sampling technology...still super worth to buy this specific new generation yamaha model psr-e373 ..Jeremy again is awesome..buona musica a tutti.

Ouch. Companies today trimming down on age old features i have used mostly on my yamaha psr530 wayback 1998. Lol Fingerung mode SF1/2, Multi, Full Has dsp button (also chorus, harmony and reverb buttons) Has 32 banks of 4 registration memories each bank Has one touch setting for quick performances Multipads (effects) Has internal demo songs and bonus cartridge demo songs (,style cartridges also exist) Has big, yellow backlit screen (as big as the scteen of the psr s750 i think).

I'm thinking about getting E373 as altbough the casio has more recordable tracks, I have a music production software on my laptop and I'd really appreciate the ability to record the keyboard's own sounds directly rather than just MIDI. Mr.Jeremy thank you so much for that video I wanted to get the Casio keyboard but after watching this video I order the Yamaya , I'm from the middle east and we use ( quarter tones ) and we use 4 main instruments which they all programmed into the Yamaha ( Santur , Kanoon, Oud Rabab and Tabla in World collection ) but i want to ask you can I adjust the tone ? we change the black key percentage /value ( not sure how to explain it in musical terms!) and can I add my own rhythm ? but if you know please let me know and thank you again

Jeremy, I am looking to buy a beginner keyboard and have narrowed it down to the Yamaha PSR-E373 and the Casio CTX-6250. I know in another video you mentioned the outdated sound chip on the Casio as a reason not to buy it but your review didn't include the newer E373. Are they close in comparison or would you say the E3373 is much better?
