Your comment about using a hair dryer is spot on. Hair on your face is no different than hair on the top of your head. You have to style and groom it. I use a hair dryer daily, so great comment!

Having had a beard in the past and rocking the goatee currently, I can say that the biggest thing is just regular maintenance. I learned how to properly use barber scissors and a straight razor specifically to trim my beard. I’m good at it now but in the beginning it allowed me to make small trimming cuts to get the shape I wanted. Also if you make a bad cut it’s a lot easier to recover than accidentally shaving a big patch with trimmers. The straight razor is just so I can target tight areas around the cheeks and neck. Just some suggestions for a guy that’s had a long beard for a decade.

As someone who's had a beard for 40+ years, NO ONE will EVER dictate if I have my beard. How long or bushy I grow my beard...PERIOD! And my beard grows like yours @JeremySiers. Into my chest hair, up to and around my eyes, and around the back of my neck. I, too, shave those areas because it's just uncomfortable, and I don't want to look like my Wooly Mammoth ancestors.

Beard butter kept me from shaving it off. Until 2020, I could only grow a beard during no shave November and on vacation. By the time it was time to shave it off, the itch was unbearable. Washing, regular conditioning and beard butter during the early growth period got rid of the itch.

My issue is I ride a motorcycle, and when I tie up my beard like yours in the video, I look like a woodchuck after I get off the bike. I have used trimmers to tame the sides down in the past, but should I let it grow out? How far down can you trim your sideburns to your face before it looks like a divet in the side of your beard? The "beard itch" for me was HORRIBLE!!! I absolutely HATED how much my neck itched while I was growing out my beard! My bearded friends were like, "Don't worry, it will go away", but I thought it would itch forever. Luckily, after it grew enough, the itch disappeared. I've had a full beard ever since!
