Thanks, this is really what I needed! My teacher told me in lesson 1 that I need MUCH bigger gaps in my phrases XD. It really helps to have time to listen/wait for the next phrase to arise during the gap as well (rather than in my case to keep playing drivel).

This is such a fantastic video and I’m loving your swing feel and vocab. That’s not really something you can teach, particularly the feel. Great exercise. Shines a light on the way the best players shape their solo from simple ideas and short phrases to more complex ideas and longer, more intense and fast moving phrases. You can literally use this to shape a solo, it’s intensity and arc before you even take it. Great video jeremy!

Thanks, Charles! You're right - it's very tricky to "teach" swing feel. You kind of have to "absorb" it from the masters. I did make a video about swing articulation that you might enjoy. It lays out some of the basics.

My friend, as someone who is also recently getting into producing educational content. I really think if you get a simple lavalier mic, and just a tiny upgrade in camera quality you could get a ton more views because your content is fantastic.

Jeremy you made a great lesson as always! Satin Doll is perfect for us beginner improvisers as is the basic blues of last lesson, but as I am still targeting and practicing enclosures on the thirds, talking about phrasing is a big leap forward for me! is there an intermediate step between the two lessons you would suggest or make a video for please?

Hey Francesco! For me, these are two separate issues. I think they’re both worthy exercises. I wouldn’t try to do them both at once - just one at a time. :)

Yes Bruce this channel is relatively new and we are all suggesting a solution for the problem and Jeremy is aware of it, maybe a closer vocal mic or clip on lavalier mic would be the best choice, let’s have patience and I am sure the audio part will be better and better.
