Pianist, author, composer, and cowardly daredevil Jeremy Siskind describes two different commonly-used walkup progressions common to two very different jazz traditions. He demonstrates using them with the tunes "Fly Me to the Moon" and "When I Fall in Love."

In the diatonic walkup example are the notes A,B,C and D the roots of the chords? If so, what are chords you are using in When I Fall In Love?

worth noting that sometimes the diminished chord can be a regular m6 if it clashes with the melody. (Also, instead of ii chords it's often the V chord in 2nd inversion) Bars 7-8 of weaver of dreams: G7 Dm7/A A#m6 G7/B Because there's an F in the melody, the b5 of the #iio chord wouldn't work, so instead it's a m6!
