@@flipwonderland we think a family of raccoons climbed our fence and killed them all because none were taken or eaten. we thought they were safe because we'd mainly been worried about coyotes/hawks since they're a lot more common in our area and we live right next to a main road, so typically smaller critters like raccoons would stay away. recently however, my step sister moved out and took her dogs with her. I think that the raccoons saw that the dogs were gone and scouted out the area for a few days/weeks to be sure they were, because our hens one day were making alert calls, but when I went out and sat with them for about an hour I didn't see or hear anything out of the ordinary. it was about a week or so after that, when they died. I'm just thankful it didn't look like they suffered. from what I could tell, it all happened too fast for them to react at all
