I was the FIRST Freaknik DJ! I, in fact, did the first and third Freaknik. Dexter King and myself practically held down the entire AU Center as disjockeys in the early 1980s. The latter days of Freaknik was not built on what was originally intended.

Why do blakk people from atl born in that hospital call themselves that? Ever bothered to research who henry grady was? He was a devout, dedicated steadfast yt supremacist who promoted and advocated for the social supremacy of whyytes over blakks. As a journalist and editor at the Atlanta constitution, he wrote about lynching with levity and humor. It's wild that you all refer to yourselves as his babies.

What JD failed to acknowledge was that originally when Freaknick started by HBCUs, it was for like-minded driven students whose intentions were to rep their collèges by bringing out marching bands, fraternities and sororities , like a big meet and greet. When those students would go back home and tell their non-college friends about their parties , them friends would also invite their non college ratchet- hood as friends who would then come and over time change the whole dynamic of the crowd, the music , and vibe of what Freanick was meant to feel from when it started

Jermaine definitely deserves his flowers. He has been in the game for 3 plus decades and guided the careers of Brat, Bow Wow, Kris Kross, Usher, and other artists. He started the trend of wearing pants backwards although I never did. Always heard of freak nik but, never attended one. Alot of people Im sure did things they weren't proud of. Im thankful that anything I did in my youth or early 20s will always remain private and I was afforded the ability to make mistakes privately. If I was of this generation I can guarantee that I would have already been canceled or at least they would have tried. Im very out spoken and bow down to NO one other than his lord savior jesus christ. Im only required to stay black, pay taxes, and of course die as death is a natural occurrence in life.

Usher said, on Club Shay Shay, that Confessions was about him and multiple writers who wrote the song about their shared experience.

He did say that. But I'm thinking he was talking about the album CONFESSIONS as a whole, not that particular song, which is probably what JD was referencing.🤷🏽‍♀️

Jermaine told us years ago that confessions was about him and his situation with the girl getting pregnant and everything. Chilli even has said it wasn't about them, if I'm not mistaken.
