I loved the boiling river, while that dipper waited to make its move. I saw a dipper once hunting on some rocks in a river, I'll never forget it.

Glad to see this video with Rick and share the wonderful morning light in Sweden. It is brilliant that your tracking courses have more and more wildlife photographers attending them. That's what takes photography up another level, when the photographer knows how to get to where their subjects will be.

Hi Steve! It's such an amazing bird... Do you have dippers near you as well? We usually only have them when rivers are frozen over in Scandinavia...
@fusion-music2 жыл бұрын
@@weylintracking-worldwide Yes, we do have them in the UK as far as the Highlands in Scotland. In the UK it can be seen all year round. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3SwpoKseLKZrdU

Hey Jeroen, great video of the Dipper they sure move quickly and it's so fun seeing them bob on the rocks. It's amazing watching them swim. Great video and photos with tough lighting! Greg

It's nearly always the difficult lighting conditions that give such atmospheric results. Lovely video and images Jeroen. Best wishes.

Yeah I agree Robert. SHooting against the sun can give such amazing results. Biggest trick is keeping the sun out of the frame... And having a reasonable quality glass that will not give flares....

Fantastic little bird Jeroen and as you say a very tough one to withstand those low temperature's have them breeding locally to me here in the u.k. but haven't managed to get any images that I'm pleased with up to yet. You obviously met with a great deal more success than I have managed up to this point. - Lovely light and beautiful images. 👍

Beautiful light Jeroen and a truly amazing birds. As you said for a small bird it is truly remarkable how they manage to survive in those conditions. Still yet to find one for myself but motivated by your great vid. Cheers Keith

In the UK they are pretty common, not Keith? Or are they more present up in the North?

@@weylintracking-worldwide we don’t get them much around where I am in the Midlands but I believe more North, South and in Wales.

Ive been trying to get out and photograph the dippers in wales but the weather has been awful or just dark .Still fingers crossed.Amazing birds they must be very hot birds to withstand the cooling effect of the water.

Hi Joeren Have you tried shooting dippers at slow shutter speeds? I generally shoot ~10th second timing the shot at the end of the dip. You get some blurred shots but when it works the smoothness of the water makes a big difference to the image
@weylintracking-worldwide2 жыл бұрын
That would indeed be a great way to get some movement in the water. As this was my first time photographing them I did not went into the experimental areas... But next summer I will return to Sweden and might have more time to try that :)

Thanks Jon! Yeah I have been thinking also... Wait for the A7Rv? Or treat myself to a 409 or 600? The latter two are very expensive though.... For my purpose I am afraid the costs are too high...
