Being a ski racer myself, I can definitely say that it is a rich person sport. I go through one pair of skis ever two seasons and race skis aren’t cheap. Edit: Also, race skis are over one-thousand dollars a pair. So compared to normal skis, they r way more expensive.

ATVs CAN be street legal. Not all of them are, and some areas/cities/states might ban all ATVs on roads. Here in AZ certain ATVs within a certain noise range, with plates and registrstion, can be used on roads. Obviously needs to pass emissions like a normal vehicle, but you can absolutely drive an ATV on roads legally.

Jerome, as a Canadian, allow me to introduce you and the Buddies to West Edmonton Mall in Alberta. It has a hockey rink, a massive water park with like a dozen waterslides and a wave pool. It also has a hockey rink and like over 100 different stores, it's massive and amazing.

I think skiing being "for rich people" is mostly a result of the reputation they built up. Not just because skiing is one of the few sports rich people talk about participating in, but because you only tend to hear _rich_ people talking about skiing trips, and when they do they're talking about going on _expensive trips_ to _expensive and prestigious locations_ with their _expensive and top-of-the-line equipment._ It's a lot less common to hear your average middle-class person talk about going skiing on their much more reasonable budget.

Swing and snowboarding. Once you buy the equipment, it's good for a long while Atvs need gas and occasional matenince. But for good skiing and snowboarding, you have to pay for locations. So yeah ide say its regional and neither are really rich people sports

Also, I have never rode an ATV, so I have no clue about those, but I have plenty of experience sledding (no skiing or snowboarding experience). At the middle school I went to, there used to be a hill in the very far back corner that my brother's and I used to go to every time we wanted to sled. A lot of people in the area would come and go to the same spot because it was a lot safer than going to the nearby hill on the street since this hill was fenced off. Only problems you ever saw were maybe someone slipped on the ice at the top or on extremely rare occasion people collided with each other. It was amazing. We had a toboggan, a circular spinny sled with handles all along the edges, and bodyboards. The part that sucked was at one point the school just decided they wanted to grow trees in that very back corner, which killed the sledding for obvious reasons. It was the safest spot in the area to go sledding, too!
