As this was jerrys take on the break up of the band i can see why he never played it since unplugged. Layne s death really closed that opport far too painful really. Even the title is symbolic. Since it is now 2020, 18 years since he lost his long time friend, and collaborator maybe he can play such songs without the anguish he once had. With wisdom, reflection of the past, even that which was painful can see viewed in a new light although the wound never really completely heals. I think jerry can play these tunes to honor laynes memory now and remember that love he had for him. That s a proud moment, and layne is smiling from above💟💟💟💟💟💟
@IAmNotFamousAnymore3 жыл бұрын
Idk. Layne didn't talk to Jerry or Sean that last 2 years of his life. Maybe Layne really didn't consider them friends anymore. I have no doubt the guys in AIC still loved Layne dearly, but I'm not so sure Layne felt the same way towards them, at least not towards the end. But we'll never know. He's gone and it sucks so bad because he was so unbelievably talented. A true one in a million talent. The only thing that brings me any semblance of peace is knowing he isn't suffering anymore.
@flynntaylor54593 жыл бұрын
@@IAmNotFamousAnymore i truly believe although maybe layne did lose that feeling for all of them towards the end that he has since forgiven any wrongs he felt they did to him. I cant come with any sense of understanding addiction I never been an addict but I do understand loving one and its damn frustrating and immensely painful to watch. I deserved that at 18 when my boyfriend spiraled down from his addictions. Things got far too crazy and the abuse I suffered still carry scares. I had to leave. For many years I blamed jerry for laynes death. I thought what kind of best friend would just chose to walk out on his best friend. Then I finally realized that you cant control someone s actions and it must have been hell for jerry to be in the studio to record and watch layne waste away. I just can't imagine what that was like for him. And only through really analyzing aic music for my book on aic fan support did I get it. Jerry loved lsyne more than even he can comprehend. Especially as he reached the pinnacle of his own well deserved success and now there is no one to his right to share it. You can't go through your formative years making music together living together and not feel that kind of love. And jerry, more than most, said goodbye to so many people mom, grandma andy layne his cousin Vinnie Chris and prob a lot more I cant name. But he is complicated. He doesn't show emotions he is a military man son and that seems to be a part of that strong as oak stability he has. I believe he was so angry at layne for leaving him to pick up the pieces of his broken band, be the leader which he did not want to do, and carry their legacy. Jerry s pain is deep rooted we didn't get to see it it spills over the grooves. Jerrys music is where ever tear is placed. I'd like to believe as jerry ages he can forgive himself as well as forgiving layne fir not being as strong as he was. Jerry had his own demons to battle, his own addiction did not end when layne died it escalated. Jerry just didn't care anyone he was gonna join him and pull down the lid. Thank God Sean stepped in and said no way we are not losing jerry too. Jerry fought that battle and won. Mow he is continuing to evolve in music and personally as well. I'm proud of him and I know layne is too.💝

@@IAmNotFamousAnymore from their perspective they were watching their bandmate slowly killing himself and at least at some point, with Layne knowing that was the eventual likely outcome, as he refused all help and resigned himself to living in an apartment playing video games, getting High constantly just to fight withdrawal, and then eventually, just waiting to die while doing so. When he showed up for the ‘99 get born again recording he looked like a 75 year old man and was missing like 1/3 of his teeth. There’s a picture floating around that shows this. It’s hard to stand by and not be frustrated then seeing your bandmate is letting himself die while also basically killing your band and life’s work in the process. Look at Layne’s lyrics about himself in the Mad Season song “Wake up.” He’s there in 1994 telling himself repeatedly “slow suicide’s no way to go... slow suicides no way to go.” 8 years later that was the result. As much as these guys had love for him I’m sure they cursed him out for letting this happen to him and not changing his habits, fearing this very terrible end he himself saw coming yet still slowly succumbed to over nearly a decade of time. Seeing that unfold you probably end up saying things like “I love you man but I can’t watch you do this to yourself” and the user feels spurned and bitter, angry at them and even more so at themselves for not being able to change. You can’t make someone change when they don’t want to and they all had to live with the bitter feeling that brings and the finality they all unfortunately saw coming years in advance.

Jk just wanted to play a little of Layne's advocate, but yes ultimately Jerry is A.i.C. he was and always will be the brain, heart, and soul but Layne was the spirit and hints why the aura isn't the same as what it was back in the 90s but I absolutely love and respect Jerry and appreciate him so much for keeping Alice alive by keeping her in chains of course 😉
