Revisiting this score again in 2022. Genius score!!!!! A modern day classical piece. Stands alone as a MASTERPIECE in composing/orchestration. TODAY'S SCORES CAN'T TOUCH THIS ! Jerry Goldsmith = G.O.A.T

Elements of "Planets of the Apes" orchestral seeps in at times. Jerry Goldsmith was a true master of his craft. The modern day Igor Stravinsky of film. Love how he incorporates jazz vibes with orchestral colors. I saw this movie in 1977 with my wife (we got married that year).

Phenomenal score. Reminds me of Patton but with a sci-fi element thrown in for good measure. Masterful.

Oh yeah, second favorite line, by Richard Widmark: "Open up, [driver], and kick ass all the way." Also, when General Widmark is asked if he listens to the news: "Not between wars."

Powerful stuff. William Smith was badass in this.

William Smith use to scare the daylights out of me with his psychotic behavior. Later, I discovered that he was extremely intelligent, had degrees from universities, spoke multiple languages, and was a super nice guy in real life. That certainly demonstrated his professionalism in acting. RIP

I love Robert Aldrich, and TLGleaming is WAY underrated. My favorite line (to the wavering president): "YOU live here, so YOU have to go!"

I think I remember this when I was a kid didn’t bark Lancaster and two other guys take over a nuclear silo and threaten to fire the nukes if their demands weren’t Met

Multi-Screen, Multi-Missile, Multi-Machismo, Multi-Orgasmic Big-Release'70's Excess... Aldrich was on the homestretch when he robustly helmed this all-star, all-male, alpha-dog powerhouse political thriller in'77. Goldsmith's striking, brilliant bombast providing the perfect, superior fuel that propels this strangely surreal juxtaposition of typically 70's high-concept muscular action tautness combined with tediously pretentious, post-Cold War, post-Vietnam preachiness. Never less than interesting, at times extremely exciting, this Lancaster led ensemble piece has its passionate heart in the right place and like the character Burt nobly essays, wears its politics openly, yet somewhat vaguely, on its well-worn sleeves. Oddly affecting to realize that most of the key talent involved in this late 70's production are now gone. Considering the role-call of masculinity in this dynamite cast, it was quite amusing to notice that the box for the Key Video VHS release of this film erroneously n' inexplicably lists Vera Miles as a performer in this. Her ill-fated role as the "First Lady" never made it beyond the Oval Office cutting-room floor...

Could you please repeat all of that?? I think I kind of understand your point(s). I'd understand everything you said more if you would please write in English!

The movie is worth a watch for the acting power assembled alone, plus the other elements (The "Tell the truth about how a war started!" meme could easily be doable again today.) The cast is epic.

Rather down-beat score, to, I suppose, a rather down-beat movie. Never saw the movie. From the looks of the two missiles, it looks like a story of the world on the brink of nuclear armaggedon.
