Just loved the hell outa Jerry Jeff since I was about 23, now 73. The album, "Five Years Gone" changed my life & my music. This recording, but especially the afore mentioned album. There's a great version of Bojangles with a due of JJ & David Bromberg playing on a radio station. Now, the scuttlebutt is that they're both drunk & their performance is sublime, obviously not drunk enough to fall down or screw up the song, JJ is relaxed and plays the song perfectly while the wonderful David Bromberg's fingers just dance across the fret board, it's life changing. My music started to include some of these songs & my lead guitar emulated Mr. Bromberg.

Man I hear ya I’d never heard of JJW until I moved to Texas in 76 at the ripe ol age of 16. My co-worker turned me on to him and I was instantly hooked..he was a one of kind , maybe a bit like some other musicians but that’s about it..✌🏼✌🏼

We were blessed to attend the 50th anniversary of Viva Terlingua recording in Luckenbach tonight. Amazing performances and memories. Ending the night with loyal fans singing the chorus to Sangria Wine was priceless. Michael Martin Murphy was awesome and I loved the respect he showed to his friend Jerry Jeff Walker Oh oh oh oh oh, I love Sangria Wine!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jealous of the Luckenbach time - but that is life! i can say that i did make it to JJW -Come Away w / me in Belize in 2000. Only bad news- No swimming pool or sandy beaches (at that time) in Belize!- My 65 year old mother had a blast and hung in there with the best!!!!- LEG

Back in the '90's on a random road trip cruising in my '65 Mustang in the Texas Hill Country, I pulled into Luckenbach just to chill out; oddly, the approach was strangely crowded with cars parked all along the roads leading into the store. Parking and walking a long way in, I began to pick up the strains of L.A. Freeway and instantly knew the explanation. Talk about a serendipitous detour on my part. The dance hall was too packed to enter so we just sat outside, drank beer, and soaked up Jerry Jeff. True story. I have seen Jerry Jeff multiple times since but nothing matches that experience, and it was pure chance.

Listening to my mom's 33s as a kid it was Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon, Linda Ronstadt, Joan Baez and this one guy country singer. I must have memorized every song on Ridin' High, Got sent to the principal's office in elementary school for singing Pissin' in the Wind in the hall. Had no idea what it was about at that age. Jerry Jeff was pretty much our Dylan up in NW Texas growing up. Vaya con dios,.

Jerry Jeff was my first & favorite musical hero. I love the songs of Townes, Bob Dylan, John Prine, Shake Russell, Dana Cooper and a few others, but I never wanted to BE Bob Dylan or any of the others. I wish I could write songs like they did but I never wanted to trade places with them. But I always wanted to be Jerry Jeff Walker.

I saw this show at the Great American Music Hall in SF with my then new wife. I had already been a fan for 20 years, so the drunken yahoos across the balconies were annoying, but it was a great show and I remember it fondly. So tough to deal with the passing of Jerry Jeff and John Prine in the same year.

I was nearby the Great American Music Hall that night in June 1991, but sadly did not make the show. But thanks to my friend Ron at that time, who somehow managed to speak to Jerry Jeff backstage prior to this show....asking him to stop by the Edinburgh Castle Pub after the show and cheer up his buddy, Bob. Imagine my surprise to meet the great man on the next stool! ‘‘Twas a wonderful night singing “The Old Grey Cat Was Sneaking Down The Hall” with Jerry & Barman, Alan Black from Glasgow Scotland! Thanks for happy times Jerry, Ron & Alan Black.

Found this at work a few months ago and can't stop listening to it. As a Millennial who hates how a lot of music today lost the storytelling in songs, I love this. There's still great songs coming out (not just country, I like a thought-out rap song just as much as Waylon), but they are much more rare than they were back then

If I were to tell how I found Jerry Jeff, and the hysterical odds of it happening the way it did......a sensible person would believe in angels. And it would be a short story in itself. Suffice to say, i have been a fan of Jerry Jeff's for 25 years now, a relative newcomer, but it was meant to be. I am up here in Toronto, Ontario, and my dream of meeting him is fading a bit, but I sometimes just bathe in his music for days at a time..

Happy trails, Jacky Jack. The world is a lesser place without you. Many thanks to Tom Flint for the great recording. I was always at the Great American whenever JJW played. He once sang a few bars of "Song Sung To Friends" to my wife and I when we met and chatted with him at the bar before the show; my wife had requested for him to sing it that night. She didn't expect to get such an immediate response! He was that kind of guy.

This is an amazing show, I cannot get enough of it. Thank the guy who actually pressed Record and got this, how lucky are we?? Side question - how in the world is John Inmon playing 3rds so quickly in some of his solos?? Like, there are these flourishes that I can't understand how he manages to rip through these solo lines of diatonic thirds and my head just spins. 1991 was too early for decent harmonizers to exist. Around the 1:43:00 mark you can hear one. When I first listened to this show, I thought there were 2 electric guitarists. Nope, just John Inmon. Honestly, I can't believe I made it to 51 years of age and completely missed the boat on this stuff - even though I was in a band that played a few JJW tunes! Better late than never, eh?

I've let so many folks know of Jerry Jeff, all my life. So many have been so thankful that I did. A couple could NOT believe that he was not from Texas. I love wearing my JJW t-shirt. Take care!

Did anyone else hear Jerry at the '82 US Festival Sunday morning at 10:00 AM? His show was epic even though the crowd was sparse and mostly severely hungover. Though there were 300,000 people in the crowd the night before and maybe a few thousand that morning. How I wish that video and audio were available.

Never another like him. And how about John Inmon. What a picker! I feel very lucky to have lived in Austin in the old days and have seen them live many times. Far better days than now. Raising hell and loving every minute of it!

Is this a bootleg recording? Saw this line up in 94. One of the greatest experiences ever. This is a pinnacle moment IMHO. top of their game. And damn that John Inmon is about as perfect a player there can be.

saw JJW several times, one of the best was the Boardwalk Cafe in Nashville mid 80's. I think Guy Clark sang this song with him. Also danced to hands on the wheel for my wedding. 25 years later Todd Snider sang it for his encore in Cincy per my request.

I only came across JJ walker after searching his name. I heard from Kris Kristofferson. Love his tune. It dumbfounds me why he's not heard of more. Maybe in America it's different.
