Jerry Tuwai - For the moment.

I recently headed out to Fiji to create this short film with Jerry Tuwai and Mizuno.
Firstly, the country is BEAUTIFUL and the people are very friendly.
I got to spend some time with Jerry and learn what motivates him to be the current no.1 Rugby 7's player in the world. People use the word 'Humble' all to easy these days, but for me this truly was a humbling experience. To see how such a phenomenal athlete lives in a country where people don't have to have a lot to be happy was amazing.
Hopefully some of Jerry's story is reflected in this short film along with the feeling of the island.

A very inspirational video, J.Tuwai. The “fork and knife”, most people won’t understand unless you are Fijian or been to boarding school in the Fiji Islands. Is not for eating your steak on a plate, but is the "cane knife and a plowing fork" for weeding and softening of the ground ready for planting, respectively.

Really really beautiful. Knife and fork is now my favourite phrase. It refers to how in Fijian culture it is the men's job to feed the family and so the hard work was to be put in especially in reference to how most Fijians in the olden days had to have farms to feed their families. Knife would be used for weeding and the fork for ploughing the land to plant various crops. Very touching that the mother and father made the sacrifices for him to be what he is today. The mother buying him that rugby boot, referred to that pair of boots as his way to earn his living by stating in Fijian, "knife and fork".

Awesome video Ed! For a kid that almost threw the towel in after getting over looked, Ben Ryan giving him a chance to a household name of 7s Rugby. Maybe do a more in-depth interview next time of Jerry’s rugby prior to being named in Fiji 7s team, he does have an inspirational story.
