The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

From a special episode saluting American composers. "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life" comes from the operetta, "Naughty Marietta". Written by Rida Johnson Young and Victor Herbert. Jerry also sang "They Can't Take That Away from Me" on this episode. Jerry made 15 appearances on the Sullivan show.

Thanks for Jerry Vale video broadcast on my 4th birthday, it can’t be 60 years already…maybe my math is wrong…😂! I see the reason David Letterman had him on his shows in the twilight of Jerry;s career. Have a great day!

Mr. Jerry Vale sang everything with effortless ease; adding a contemporary poignant style to a 1910 Victor Herbert composition.

I still think of young Frankenstein. When Madeline Kahn hooks up with Peter Boyle in the honeymoon scene.

Jerry Vale was a first class act. This is real entertainment. The garbage, and I mean garbage sexually perverted rap/hip hop has to go. They make stats out of people for rap songs that demean women and killing police and selling drugs. It's absolute garbage and has everything to do with the downfall of the world!

Not all or most of rap is demeaning women and killing police, etc. Back in Jerry's day you got away with abuse that should never have occurred.

@@michael0.770 I agree. I started listening to rap almost 50 years ago and there was nothing bad about it. The idea of rap is actually very cool. But things went wrong at least 20 years ago when it started getting rich in cussing and other nasty things. I guess it's no different than the way rock and roll evolved in different directions and in some cases it fell into the same pit. Filthy language and anti everything.
