This is the BEST color mixing video I've seen! Most people explain the primary colors and secondary colors, but they never tell us about mixing them all together, getting those Earth tones, etc. Great video, thank you for this! :)

This is the best lesson on color I've seen yet! I draw - a lot - graphite and pen and inks, but am starting to get into watercolor paintings and I'm having too much trouble with mixing colors and matching colors. I got to tell you, I've watched a # of these videos on color that put me to sleep or confuse me more! This one, however, is right on the spot! I will watch again and practice. I finally have hope!

Having been a Printer who has mixed a lot of PMS colors over time, I do know that all colors mixed together is black. However, white and black do share a plane. White and black may seem to be opposite of each other but they share given shades of grey , they are regarded as a neutral spectrum. I always loved the science of color. In Printing we have process black, and mixing black. The mixing black is transparent, meaning that the colors mixed with it will not be overpowered by the black. The process black works the same way but it's used to highlight the more sensitive colors like in four to six dot to dot printing. Usually Dense Black is used for most of offset printing when all black is used. Dense Black is achieved when blue or brown pigments are added to the ink to make it more opaque. At times I have even added some reflex blue to dense black to make large solids look more void of light. The trick is not to add too much because if you look at it in an angle, it'll look blue.

You would use Briliant Yellow Green or Vivid Lime Green in the Liquitex brand. Thalo Yellow Green was a color that was part of the Grumbacher Finest line of acrylic paint. Grumbacher Fines line of paint has been discontinued.

I hardly ever comment but as a 30yr musician/guitarist/songwriter, I feel compelled. I can tell you, the composer of this intro knows their shit. It's a beautiful introduction for an artist's page/tv show/etc. I'd love to know not only who composed the piece but also who performed it. -sounds like they de-tuned to 430.

Question: I'm super-fascinated with Jerry's fleshtone trick, but I want to make sure about the paints that are available. (I've generally used Liquitex and Utrecht in the past, and am interested in Blick's line of acrylics.) I'm not seeing anything labeled Pthalo Yellow Green per se, but I do see Yellow Green (Blick) and Brilliant Yellow Green (Liquitex) made up of the same four pigments (pthalo green, hansa yellow, perm yellow, and white)...I suppose those are basically what Jerry's using? Also, I hope that alizarin crimson hues will work as well as the real thing in this application.

If mixing all the colors makes BROWN, where does BLACK come from?????
@scottyarnell111510 жыл бұрын
It's not possible to mix colors and get a true black. Try mixing the three primary colors red, blue and yellow until you achieve the color you want.
