Well and with a family, it's like, either go with a large SUV that can seat everyone, and still be able to tow with. But a 6 seater truck means you can tow, do work, and fit the whole family in there when you want to tow your RV. I'm really curious about towing, and if the gas powered generator will be good enough to go on longer towing hauls.

@@rogerwilco1777the gas generator means mileage is essentially a non issue. You just stop at a gas station and fill up like a normal ICE vehicle. @@evil1st Everything you just said is completely and utterly inaccurate and false. Do you really think manufacturers would be putting 8+ year or 100k+ mile warranties on EVs if they thought their batteries would be that bad? They would be bankrupt before even the first year of operations in free battery replacements alone. And yes, while the range is an estimate because the car isn't out yet, so that can definitely change. You can be sure that it will at minimum have 330-350 miles of range for the price this is coming in at and what its competition on the market is. Furthermore, EVs all have settings where you can adjust how much you want the battery to charge to, meaning they are not constantly charging to full capacity. Unless they are LFP, which those are recommended to be charged to full daily. You are also grossly overexaggerating how much heat affects the battery. I live in Florida and the heat literally doesn't make not even 1% of a difference. This is because batteries like to be warm, so they use less energy to keep the battery warm. The cold is different because batteries don't like to be cold, so the car has to use energy to keep the battery warm. There's a ton more detail I can go into, but I'd just suggest watching engineering explained, since he has a great video explaining all of this in simple to understand terms.

@NWJF

@@TwoShoedDude pardon my turn of phrase. Complex EVs such as Tesla, Rivian, Lucid and the like. Use multiple motor setups. With the only similarities between them and an ICE vehicles drivetrain are perhaps suspension geometry and the drive shafts/CV joints. Keeping a design simple, connecting a motor to the drive wheels through a differential/shaft/axle eliminates complexity, offers familiarity of design AND reduces R&D costs to "redesign the wheel" if you will. This being the opinion of one of the great unwashed who didn't go to college and I probably have Cheeto stains on my shirt.

The other day we where talking about the dangers of capacitance and touchscreen buttons vs the tactile buttons. And why motor companies tried switching to the capacitance and touchscreen buttons. AKA, it saves them money. With capacitance and touchscreen buttons, people looks look away from the road to look at where the buttons are before pressing it. Even if they know where the button is. With tactile buttons, people will feel for the button before pressing it, keeping there eye on the road. The same goes for the indicator stalks vs buttons on the steering wheel that keeps moving with the wheel. A study I believe found that using capacitance and touchscreen buttons distracted driver vision for up to 10 sec. The time to look down and focus on the buttons till the time at looking back to the road and focusing on the road to see brake lights in front of them. The study was mentioned on another youtube channel that I can't recall right now. Don't misunderstand, having a touch screen could be good like adjusting setting for your car. But, in my view should not be touched while driving. While driving you should only be using tactile buttons as much as possible. Buttons you can feel and know the location. And keep your eyes on the road.

In this case, even though the gas/diesel motor does not power the wheels, it still provides power to the battery that ultimately powers the wheels. @booth403
@booth403 Ай бұрын
@@shermanfirefly4343 With all due respect, we had a Scout until about 30 years ago, they were capable offroad vehicles more than anything. Yes, people used them as farm trucks, no that was not the only use for them, we used ours for camping and commuting with family, like any other SUV. I think the main problem here, is that people are stuck thinking it "has to be gas" to represent its original purpose. That's just ignorance at its peak, if this thing is a capable off road vehicle, with more range than the other electric offerings, then its serving its purpose in this day and age. From everything I can see, it will be a dammed capable off road vehicle, and with the generator, that's essentially the same as using the small 4 banger that a lot of owners purchased back in the 60s/70s to get better mileage out of something capable. To be clear, I'm all for gas engines for fun. I enjoy a project like most men, but at some point a lot of you guys need to quit living in the past, and to realize that some form of electric vehicle will be taking over the market whether you like it or not. That doesn't make you wrong to hope that some companies will keep gas engines alive for a while, but saying things like this will never "fill the gap left by the originals", that's just not correct in any sense of the word. Again, no disrespect meant, I just feel like its worth it to stomp out these knee jerk comments when possible. Analyze what you're looking at, in the context of today, and its undeniable that these new Scouts, as well as the Hummer EV, are true electric successors to their gas counterparts.
