My work area is neat and clean. I make a mess while working. But, I make everything neat and clean again when I'm done.

I'm a Maker, I create just about everything wood furniture, quilts, watercolor, oil painting, etc. I created stations in my studio. Then bought tons of small tool boxes and labels for each section. The hubs has an issue with holes in the walls and cheap MDF shelving so had to figure out how to build shelves to utilize my vertical space since since one of the kids moved back in and my studio had to move to my bedroom. Even had to downsize my clothes to utilize my closet for storage. I struggled with wasting time looking for my supplies then buying more thinking i didn't have something just to find it later, until i learned to use clear storage containers and label label label.

I have to put my art supplies away because if I don't my two cats will steal anything I leave laying around 😂. They especially love my brushes and pens and pencils.

I put my tubes of watercolor into plastic zip bags, sorted by hue (family color). Excellent for my use.

Omg, I need those Mezzo racks! I've just found this video and I'm so glad I did - my space isn't as bad as some that I've seen but it drives me crazy to have things laying around everywhere so that I have to waste time hunting for things on my desk. I'm so excited to try these and the Watercolor Painter's Diary! I'll be doing a review of both on my channel once I get them 😍😍

Great video, Mike! When you said bucket of paint tubes! LOL I have the Mezzo racks and the spinning brush rack! They're fantastic! Especially, the spinning rack. I can say without a doubt that I endorse that rack the most and all the Mezzo products. They make cleanup over in a matter of seconds. I love them!

These are great for painters, but you need to think about crafters to expand your product line to another audience. We store markers horizontally, not vertically, just saying, better for the ink not to pool.

Those look great! What have you got to organize and display various ink bottles?

I have orderly chaos because I can't think in the middle of a mess. It's too ugly.

Hullo Mike, I have found that I need to have areas where I work on different mediums. Now I can share my painting areas but not my watercolor and soft pastels, they need separate painting areas! I also segregate my brushes. I have a system of jars and Paint Puck containers that allow vertical drying of my brushes. I can see the Mezzo organizers are nice but I just don’t believe they have enough storage for the space they take up! Maybe a video showing this would be a better sales tool? Just saying I enjoyed the rant but a bit more substance might convince me to invest in new storage solutions.

I hear you, man. By the time I figure out what I need, determine where it is and drag everything out--I'm too tired to paint.

I think I lean more towards the OCD side of things in my studio. It’s organized to a T, everything is labeled, I always know where everything is ❤️

It’s taken me a very long time and many re-organizing episodes to get it so I have things at my fingertips so to speak. The only things on display are my brushes and pens. I use decorative flower pots with coffee beans in them to store my paint brushes. The coffee beans keep them separated and not touching each other. Watercolor brushes are on my table as I use the most often and my acrylic brushes on the dresser which stores all my papers and other misc supplies. My pens are in decorative cups on my desk. My watercolor palettes and tubes are by my desk on a bottom shelf of a table where my printer is. Organized by colors in little drawers. I store everything watercolor there. My acrylic paints by the brushes in little drawer organizers. All my canvases on one of those metal storage shelves so I can see them and get to them easily. I have all my office stuff in this room. Along with sewing equipment and a large bookcase in this small room. I think it’s a 9 by 11 room. So thankful for this space. So I have to keep it tidy and organized for my sanity! I love the organizers You are showcasing here in this video. But do not have the space to keep my supplies out like that. Even though all my art supplies are put away I now can get to them fast. It took years and many changes to finally make it work. I too would talk myself out of painting because it took so long to set up. So everyone keep making changes until it is right for you. Go easy on yourself! ❤

I watch a lot of Korean historical dramas on Netflix. Back in the day, all of their writing was done with brushes. I noticed in the dramas that there are these gorgeous brush drying racks in the background. Some of them are quite beautiful, like works of art in their own right. All of the brushes have loops on the ends and hang bristles down like they're supposed to. I managed to get hold of one of those racks. It's beautiful, with dragons carved into it. I love it. It's so cool that traditionally, in some cultures, art supply storage was made beautiful. If it looks good, you're going to want to use it more. It looks much better than having brushes scattered everywhere.

I am right in the middle of cleaning out & reorganizing all my supplies. I have a small studio, and if I don’t keep it under control, I can’t create anything.

Listening to this video while painting, looked over at the screen looked back at my desk...what a disaster. Brushes, markers, pencils, erasers, paint just all mixed up and rolling around together. Ordered the drawing one and the rotating brush rack-what a timely video 🙂!

I color-coordinate color/hue buckets for paint with shelf below buckets for color-coordinated jars, specialized brush boxes and separate working stations for brainstorming/drawing, finishing/wiring/packing, and library and tv/computer.

As a Professional Mess Maker - I identify as fluid. I can make a mess to completely fill any space I am allotted. Therefore - smaller, more organized spaces, allow the studio to (mostly) function. .. So that when inevitable Mass Chaos breaks out, we don't need to call the National Guard to airlift us out 😂

I go to the smoke shop and buy empty cigar boxes. Some shops sell them for one dollar. Most of them are beautiful, not too bulky yet sturdy enough and I can stack them and label them. For like items I even can get boxes of the same cigar brand. A bookshelf filled with those is a joy for the eyes - and yes - most are wide enough to hold pencils and markers.

Great video. I really enjoyed it. I live alone w/ 3 dogs & 4 cats. This video spoke to me personally S many times I have thought I would love to paint then can't find all the supplies. Got tons of clutter. Books , magazines, stuffed animals, clothes, etc. Then I think what the hell, & don't paint. This video is so inspiring. Thx

My issue is I practically live out of boxes studio type, so I lose a lot of time taking things out and setting up. All to just undue it once finished. It’s exhausting. I’m liking the brush one
